Bandleader Nick Ali's blazing electric trumpet rips through and grows on the pounding basslines set by mark rodgers' bass guitar flury, MC Enlight's junglist riddims and daniel barnes drumkit prowess cover's 5 bucks and worth every penny. They take some jazz standards and spice 'em up, they take new ideas and show 'em off, and they'll likely have a beer with you if you're nice about it. it'd be cool to see some kids out to a london show. Nick "The Brownman" Ali won the 2002 National Jazz Award for Jazz Composer of the Year, and has represented Canada around the world (Eastern Europe, Cuba), and is an all-around great guy. He leads a bunch of bands, and has done sideman work with loads of artists. He mostly appears in the Toronto area (and hasn't played Ottawa for a while now ), so I'm envious of anybody who can make this show.
