Yoshimi (battles the pink robots)

In keeping with my major crush on the Flaming Lips does anyone know anything about Yoshimi? I know basically that she's a beautiful japanese musician, was the drummer for the Boredoms and that Fishman apparently fell in love with her when the boys were in Japan.

I'm hoping that moe.down changes my feelings towards the Flaming Lips. I'm having major problems getting into their sound, and I usually don't shy away from strange music.

From the sounds of it every musician just gushes about the Lips. Apparently on the artist shuttle bus home from the SARS concert everyone was giving Wayne Coyne high fives up and down the aisle. Berkfest was apparently no different. Dean Bowman from the Screaming Headless Torsos is milling around Guelph for Jazz Fest rehearsals and he just played Berkfest solo and even he (a serious jazzbo) was singing their praises.

I seem to remember a story about a young, Japanese Lips fan who fell ill and quickly passed away. Not sure if she has anything to with "Yoshimi"... but she won't let those robots defeat me...

The girl who died isn't yoshimi. She's the subject of the tune "summertime". Kung, I don't know if the Yoshimi being referred to is necessarily Yoshimi from the boredoms. It's actually a pretty common woman's name in japan. Wayne gives some really good interviews regarding the album (as usual), so you could easily find out more.
