boiler
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of the products available to wirelessly transmit music files from your computer to your stereo system?Something like this: http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=668&product=16186There was another neat one my brother showed me but I forget what it was called, it had digital outs (optical and digital cable) and cost around $300. I could just get the wireless option on the xbox 360 going but I'm not a huge fan of the xbox's media player. For example when you're scrolling through your music the xbox makes an annoying "scroll" sound, that's a real downer when you're trying to "DJ" a party. I find the playlists cumbersome also, mostly though because I'm so used to itunes and like it, so never bothered to give Zune a try.
Rossolee
We've been pretty happy with this for the past few years:http://www.slimdevices.com/ It will play any of the music on your computers harddrive(s) as well as your Itunes library. It streams internet radio, live music archive, rhapsody, pandora etc Open Source as well- so it gets upgraded fairly often.

SolarGarlic
My buddy has the Slim Devices model above and my dad has the Roku device. Based on my experience with both I would go with the Slim Devices (Squeezebo). It kicks all sorts of ass...Im gonna get one!
phishtaper
have a squeezebox too. no complaints. really easy and intuitive operation too. given all the current options, though, might want to consider the MacTV box, since it does video as well as audio. boiler
Thanks for the help, it was the squeeze box that my brother showed me. It looks really sweet. Where did you guys buy it?Back in my Toronto Apt. days, I just had my computer hooked up directly to my stereo with a digital connection, not so in the new place. CyberHippie
I use a hi-fast FM transmitter. Plugs into the usb port of your computer and sends your audio stream out to an fm station. I get the signal out in the garage, back-yard, down the street. It's amazing!I just bought three the other day, they run $45 each if you want one. Or you can try on ebay.http://www.hifastonline.com/page9.html
