Neil Young will be feted with a star-studded concert during the upcoming Grammy Awards weekend, organizers announced this week.

Fellow Canadian k.d. lang and peers like Emmylou Harris and Crosby, Stills & Nash will be among the artists set to perform at the tribute gala for Young slated to take place in Los Angeles on Jan. 29.

Other performers lined up include James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Wilco, Josh Groban, Norah Jones and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The Grammy Awards themselves follow on Jan. 31.

The Toronto-born, Winnipeg-raised Young was named the 2010 winner of the U.S. Recording Academy's MusiCares Person of the Year in August.

He is the first Canadian to receive the honour. Past recipients include Quincy Jones, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Bono.

The annual award recognizes musicians who dedicate their time to philanthropic and humanitarian efforts alongside their artistic endeavours.

Young is a longtime social activist who has organized various charitable events over the years, including co-founding the Farm Aid benefit concerts and, for more than two decades, raising funds to help educate children with severe speech and physical challenges.

Young has yet to win a Grammy Award for his music.
