King Sunshine was born out of a desire to bring quality dance music back to the live stage. From their humble origins this hardworking collective has been a trailblazer in Canada’s music scene. From working with top producers and supporting the finest DJs to headlining underground and mainstream festivals, King Sunshine have always maintained a renowned reputation and a progressive concert experience.

King Sunshine’s sound and performance is truly of universal appeal. Performing to a 10,000+ festival crowd at the Montreal International Jazz Festival to sold-out performances at the hottest nightclubs in Canada, this nine piece power-house has an impressive resume of high profile festivals, private events and club gigs, two full length albums, countless singles, remixes and a loyal fan base to their credit.

Rooted in underground disco and funk, the band continuously strives to push the boundaries of what constitutes the ‘live’ experience. Their understanding and passion for contemporary dance idioms such as deep house and techno inevitably becomes intertwined into their performances creating a sound that is uniquely their own. With commanding arrangements, explosive on-stage energy and a true understanding of how to create a ‘party’ environment, KS have synthesized the quintessential elements that truly move a crowd – physically and emotionally.

KS have been regularly tapped to support some of house music’s finest DJ’s including Theo Parrish, Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter and Little Louie Vega, to name a few. They have had wonderful opportunities to provide backup support for legendary house vocalists Robert Owens, Kenny Bobien, Byron Stingly, Arnold Jarvis and Shawn Escoffery and have opened for Bettye Lavette “The Great Lady of Soulâ€.

KS’s live show is influenced heavily by the dance-floor DJ, and the band uniquely crafts each live performance to its audience creating a relentless non-stop musical flight into rhythmical and spiritual dimensions.
