zero
There hasn't been much talk in the Canadian or American press about these 3 Toronto blokes but they've blown up huge overseas and done a short UK/Scotland tour all the while pushing up NME's charts. I would imagine their return home will be triumphant. Definitely worth catching, their opening set for the surprise Japandroids set at Dakota during NXNE blew everyone including Japandroids off the map.http://northernheads.blogspot.com/2010/08/young-empires-return-home-to-toronto.html
shainhouse
They are doing OK here... Definitely hyped.
zero
Really Shain, just OK, I'm pretty sure they're doing a bit better than OK in the UK but then again you're the expert.
shainhouse
Nope, just OK. They did a club NME show and played White Heat, both highly hyped gigs, but are still in the developmental process. The big name right now in that world being hyped is Diamond Rings here. zero
Well they haven't released a single track officially or an album but they're charting pretty high on NME aren't they? There was also a ton of coverage of their UK and Scotland dates including News of The World (UK). I haven't read it yet but was told NME just did a brilliant live review the other day. They also did a remix for Sunday Girl which is telling if only because again - everything they've done has been in bedrooms, bathrooms and are really very raw demos (White Doves and Against The Wall) which labels or individuals have suggest are perfectly good for release as is. The Empires are definitely from the bigger is better category.

zero
There's absolutely 0.0 publicity and a helluva lot of well earned hype (really on the strength of their live show). Check the Aug. 3 live review in NME if you're skeptical. They're a 3 man show literally. There's no publicist, label, infrastructure really. They've just jerry rigged a handful of tunes together democratically and built a reputation for delivering in their live show. They are in Dave Neufeld's studio right now working up much bigger mastered versions of what they have so far but as it stands it's just guitar, 2 keys, bass, Ableton Live.
