Tonight and next Monday (Oct. 25), Super Awesome Club is playing at Le Petit Chicago just over the river in Gatineau. It's instrumental jazz, done electrically and eclectically. Wayne Eagles plays guitar in it, and he's worth catching in pretty much any scenario where he appears. The first set starts around 9:30pm - 10:00pm, and it's a free show.

On Tuesdays, reggae band Roots Movement plays at Cafe Nostalgica (on the campus of Ottawa U.); two sets, the first 9:30pm - 10:00pm, and again, it's free.

Roots Movement also plays (most) every Thursday night at The Rainbow Bistro; I think the cover is $5 at the door.

The Souljazz Orchestra is at Babylon on Friday, Oct. 22 if you want a hot sweaty Friday night dance party.

And if you're still in town the week after that, Unseen Strangers and The Dusty Drifters are at the Elmdale on Friday, Oct. 29 if you want a drinky Friday night bluegrass party.

Also check the Ottawa calendar.

Aloha,

Brad

Another cool residency these days it the Back Talk Organ Trio at The Rainbow on Saturday afternoons. It starts at 4:00pm - 4:30pm, runs until about 7:00pm (two or three sets), and is another free one. BTOT is a keyboard/bass/drums band, with the drums played by Mike Essoudry. It falls into the jazz/funk/soul keyboard trio genre, similar to Jimmy Smith and others.

Aloha,

Brad
