Has anyone read any of these books? I just stumbled upon the series and thought the idea looks cool, wondering if they're good reads.

It's good stuff, yes. I have maybe 20 titles and only a few have been a waste of time.

If you want to test out the concept before buying, there are at least 2 "compilation" volumes which pull parts of many volumes into one. Good way to see if you'd want to read further.

The only one I've read is the Celine Dion one and it was really enjoyable. The author who is a well known Canadian music and culture critic starts out on the premise that he despises the music of Celine Dion, yet she is a global phenomenon. Then he sets about exploring what could possible make so many people feel this way about music that he hates so much. It's an interesting and funny read.
