bouche
Does anyone here make falafels at home? I've seen a mix...but I like to try and stay away from mixes. But, if it's worth a shot, I'll try it. Share your recipe if you have one. I'm currently addicted to Extreme Pita's falafel pita and I really want to make my own. Basher
http://vegweb.com/food/ethnic/2348.shtml I haven't tried this recipe but the reviews look good. I know many that use the mixes - try the one from "Fantastic".
bradm
I went to food Network Canada and did a search for "falafel", which turned up one result. The US food Network had a few more recipes. Aloha, Brad
boogieknight
I made this one a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty good. They were a little soft but I used too many beans. Falafel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 cup dried garbanzo beans, soaked in water to cover overnight and drained 1 cup dried shelled fava beans, soaked overnight and drained 1/2 cup peeled and finely chopped yellow onions 3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed 1 cup water 1/2 cup sesame seeds 1/2 cup garbanzo flour 1/4 cup fine bulgar 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley 1/4 Tbs. salt 2 tsp. ground cumin 2 tsp. ground coriander 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper Oil for deep-frying Run the drained garbanzo beans and fava beans through the fine blade on your meat grinder or in your food processor. Blend in all the remaining ingredients and let the mixture stand for 1 hour. Form into little patties 1/3 inch thick and 1-1/2 inches round. Or, you can form them into balls the size of walnuts. Deep-fry in 375° oil until toasty brown and crunchy on the outside, about 4 minutes. Fill pita bread with Falafel, sliced tomatoes, sliced onion, lettuce and yogurt. Makes about 24 patties, enough for 6 sandwiches.

Before this goes any further, I'm having Filet Mignon for dinner tonight Boogieknight's looks so complicated that it must be good. Maybe the quickchopper will be able to do the mixin'. bouche
I'm gonna pick up the mix and review it right here soon after. "veggie food is just better tasting" veggie food is better tasting than a nice medium rare filet mignon? How is anything better tasting than the tenderloin of a cow?
