Weirdness
This guy is out to lunch. If it sounds good and it's a good tune, than fuck the rules. Richie Havens taught me that.
B & Z
Dudes, relax! Of course there have been good Jimi covers. I was obviously kidding. Steve
dancingbear
that's what we need, more rules in jambands and music it really is the essence of the scene....if only the acid tests, that place i went to in my head during so many covers, lot scenes and bands were bound by some random guys rules....it would be such a better way to be. Mr. Musicface
I was gonna say the same about the El Mo "Third Stone" Jaimoe - friggin' thing made me weep the first time I heard it, honest to god. Ben Harper's "Voodoo Chile" is pretty good too IMHO. - M.

dubnut
what this "scene" definately DOES'NT need is more rules.let the cards fall where they fall. if you want to try playing someone else's shit(instead of coming up with your own) then by all means try. Mr. Musicface
Second (third? forth?) the motion on Richie Havens! I love, for instance, his cover of "Eleanor Rigby" - shouldn't work, but it works like mad! BTW, I keep thinking I'm hearing him singing in this insurance commercial on TV (can't remember the company). The line is something about "my life, my world..." Anyway, anybody know what the hell I'm talking about or am I nuts? - M.
