i bet that there iss one guy here that can make a pedal with chips, transistors and probably tubes - in fact he's probably sold a few custom pedals recently with his talent. I bet there are 10 times more programmers here that could do the same thing with software using apple's API's for the iPad/iPhone. I could be wrong, but I have some ideas.

story? i wouldn't go near that subject or anything related to time travel this movie. you have to just watch it for the 80's gags and the crispin glover moments. his "story arch" is probably one of the funniest things included into a movie just for fun ever.

Bill Frisell is playing the NAC studio next friday and I'm wondering how it works for ticketing with bronze pass since according to the website they state: Friends Series, National Arts Centre Studio, 8:00PM – based on availability how is availability gauged? You can BUY tickets for $30 right now, but from what I understand, one can see these shows with ones bronze pass.

I think for the folks that live in Ottawa AND love to find good eats, word of mouth is nearly as good as a street tasting. I've learned of a lot of great places from this forum, ottawafoodies, and friends from work. 2 or 3 years ago, we learned of many great places on wellington from our first time attending the taste of wellington. I'll never forget tasting pascal's ice cream on that hot saturday afternoon. Last year was a bust. I met Ollie and we found every place had crazy ass lineups for a ..... taste. Most places were out of tastes by 2. We just gave up and had a beer on a patio.

I found out today when trying to get a table at the Foolish Chicken (totally booked btw) that the taste of wellington is on tomorrow. I thought this happened at the end of summer. Do they do this twice a year now? who's going? last year was too packed...too many people, not enough tastes. Details here

A friend at work pointed me to guiderestos.com for restaurant reviews. It's a pretty accurate guide and rates restaurants by price, decor, service, and of course cuisine. It's in french, but what the hell. 4-stars is universally excellent and 5-stars is universally the best. btw, this only covers ottawa, montreal and various other regions in quebec. Too bad they don't cover toronto.

We made dumplings, and they are simple though time consuming for a full batch. A great way to enjoy dumplings in Ottawa is to visit the Dumpling House on somerset and buy some quality dumplings then steam/sautee them.
