  1. How accurate are composite sketches? Some of these are actually quite accurate. Some way off. Here are some pretty damn funny sketches I'd like to see how well us skanks could sketch each other.
  2. (more photos from Ottawa Bluesfest) Crowded House recently played at the Ottawa Bluesfest and I for one was very excited to see them. Being a Crowded House fan since about 1987, I've only had one opportunity to see them, and that was back in 1988 or 89 at Queen's University's Grant Hall in Kingston, ON. That's when they were a three-piece with Paul Hester on drums. Unfortunately, he passed tragically in 2005. The night that Crowded House played at the Ottawa Bluesfest, they were up against a serious blues act, the Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi band. I could only shoot one of these shows, so with the help of Dave Barrett, jambands.ca got both shows photographically covered. Unfortunately, Crowded House had a strict photographer list, but using my charisma skill of +25, I was able to join the authorized photographers for a few songs. "Something So Strong" was one of them. I think it was note-for-note identical to the version that they played back in 1988 which was a stark contrast to how Phil Lesh and Bob Weir approached Truckin'. The other night, Crowded House was joined on stage by the legendary David Byrne of the Talking Heads and together, they performed a couple of TH classics, "Once In A Lifetime" and "Road to Nowhere". Check these out for a very cool collaboration at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City.
  3. This was a really fun band at moe.down a few years back. Trainwreck's Brodeo ISRJve29Z64
  4. Here's a bunch of bluesfest produced behind-the-scenes clips.
  5. I heard that hull was already quite full.
  6. wasted guy climbs tree and walks around with pride like he rescued a cat? all he did was make the firefighters have to get him out of the tree too. unbelievable.
  7. I still can't believe that someone's getting stinking rich off of people who cheat on their spouses.
  8. Hold Steady interview with craig finn by Sean Taylor Bluesfest ends on high note - by dave barrett Saturday at bluesfest - sean taylor please post your comments in the comments area of the article.
  9. try getting rogers on demand from videotron. videotron has on-demand, but it's mostly all french content. fuckers.
  10. I've got 2 tracks that were pre-released. They are both very good. can't wait for the rest!
  11. I guess this means that one has to collect all eight. Reminds me of burger king empire strikes back glasses. the Embed code doesn't seem to be working. Here's the site
  12. I've read numerous times that zip.ca wasn't worth it.
  13. Best Show: Flaming Lips Best Show if I missed Flaming Lips: Arcade Fire Best Show if I missed Flaming Lips and Arcade Fire: Furthur Best personal moment: Being invited to stick around photo pit at front of the stage to watch the rest of Furthur. Biggest disappointment: Plants and Animals. Hire some musicians and play your compositions live! Biggest Surprise: The Gram Parsons Tribute inside the Barney Rubble theater. The Pedal Steel player was amazing.... so was the entire band. First time ever trying: 1 beavertail Best Smell: that bbq ribs stand at the subway stage. Best View: Thursday's sunset at the subway stage over the Ottawa river.
  14. I agree. However, it's strange what I read in the 24H by Denis Armstrong (shaking my fist) The lineup was at least stellar, if not more than stellar. Seriously? Do you need to compare everything to Van "have another drink" Morrison and Bob "horse voice" Dylan ? a. tribute band? I don't think that's what they're doing. b. Arcade Fire had a target audience? They're playing "art-rock" ? What in the fuck is art-rock? geezuz. I think arcade fire had one of the biggest turn-outs of the fest.
  15. Netflix is bringing part of their service to canada. Unfortunately, it'll be the streaming-only service. No blu-ray or dvd rentals by mail. With bandwidth caps by rogers, bell, videotron, shaw, etc, streaming services aren't the greatest option.
  16. you're right. fixed. here's what you missed.... "beamed the way love will make you do……"
  17. I only hear good things about Art Smith.
