  1. Here's another with that twerp JR and some funny guy named Tracey
  2. No shit!?!? Did you go there too? I was supposed to go to Mr. Stark's retirement party (one of my old classmates had informed me of it) but I couldn't make it. He was awesome. I had him the year that Italy won the World Cup in '82. We watched all the World Cup games that he could get on the TV that he rolled into the classroom. Beatles performances for school shows He taught us calligraphy. He'd get me to run up to Eglinton before lunch and grab him a sandwich from one of the restaurants (imagine that happening today ). I was at Oriole for Grades 4,5,6. Lived just down the street on Braemar. Also found out years later that Mrs. Kudo's daughter and I had a mutual friend in another small world incident. Kish was one of my best buddies when I was there too (gave him his knickname). He had some brief MuchMusic fame with this; He does a ton of voices for animated shows and is based in LA. Small world. Wild.
  3. Well said TedLeonsis. That was spot on. Now, as for the second-coming of Hal Gill? Well, I admit, he did a fantastic job at blocking shots and helping to neutralize Ovechkin, do you think he has what it takes to do the same with Crosby and Malkin? Just wonderin'. After seeing how Crosby could dance around and back and forth with Spezza playing catchup, i just can't see Gill doing the same. They kept the Caps to the outside for most of the game and so many of those shots were from the perimeter. I think you'll see the Pens getting penetrating and getting in the slot (ooooh that sounds sexy ) much more than the Caps were able to. I think this is going to be an interesting matchup. Halak has got to keep that momentum going and I think it's very much in his favour since they really aren't getting a break to cool off. The rest of the team is going to make the difference. I was really impressed by what I saw from Cammalleri. He seems to have that intensity and drive that just never lets up. Think he could be in line for a captaincy? The Habs have made CBC super happy. I was taking with Scott Moore on the elevator this morning and he couldn't have been more pleased. The ratings on Saturday should be through the roof.
  4. Totally agree with the comments regarding the exposure to learning about various religions in historical contexts. It permeates our collective histories and should be learned from (especially how it causes us to divide). I totally think that religion in a "faith-based school" does belong. That's why it is a faith-based school, right? HOWEVER, it should be fully funded and supported by THAT faith and not the general public. Faith-based schools should be treated as private schools ... which, of course, they all are EXCEPT for the Separate School Board in Ontario
  5. I had a Grade 4 teacher who made the whole class recite the Lord's Prayer everyfuckingday after the National Anthem! Did it scar me? No. Did it make me join the flock? No. Was it the right place? IMHO, No! (boo Mrs. Kudo) Would I rather have been reciting Beatles lyrics? YES (i got a teacher in Grade 6 who did that ... thanks Mr. Stark) It's all about balance
  6. Totally should be called DogPouTines

  10. Wow! Congrats Montreal. Comeback win after being down 3-1 to the Caps!!! Gutsy and oneunfuckingreal performance from Halak the last three games. If he keeps his play up who knows what could happen against the Pens. Salut.

  14. No probs! I came across it while finding info on the Swell Season presale and a link was on Glenn Hansard's site. After reading some more about Debashish I want to hear some more. I'll be seeking out some recordings as well. Pissed that he was in Toronto last fall for a couple of shows I totally would have gone. On his touring page it lists "9th July, August 7th Canadian Summer festivals Featuring Calcutta Chronicles." Hoping to find a date and time in the Toronto area .....
  15. Hot goal pak from the past week
  16. Ok, so i've seen a number of great slide players and listened to lots too. However, listening to this guy this afternoon i'm finding it fascinating. From what I gather so far, in the 1930s the Hawaiin guitar arrived in Calcutta with a famous Hawaiian musician. It took hold and became part of their instrumentation. Played in a laptop style this guy took it to a new level. Here's a couple of vids. Enjoy or not, just sharin'
  17. Are you trawling for a bet there Schwa.??

  19. That game was a blast to watch. Halak was brilliant. Completely frustrated the Caps who gave him a hell of a lot of shots! I hope Game 7 can live up to this one. Fingers crossed. Chicago game is wild ....
