  1. Awesome show. Way ahead of other stuff that was on at the time. Great talent with Billy Van who plays 90% of the characters. Vincent Price was on frequently too. http://www.frightenstein.com/ When I was a kid I loved watching the Wolfman get down to the funky grooves with the trippy lightshow in the background. Guess it was a "gateway show" for things to come . They have 2 complete episodes up for download: http://www.frightenstein.com/goodies/index.html Super Hippy
  2. Great minds think alike brother Not to say the Clapton show was like this, but I think many of us in this community truly have an appreciation for the musical abilities and prowess of the players we see. It can be frustrating to watch players of this type being bound by the desire of the mainstream fans who simply want a regurgitation of the greatest hits collection You know what i'm talkin' 'bout
  3. How about Hamilton's greatest show ever (aside from Hilarious House of Frankenstein): Tiny Talent Time 19957-1992 wiht host Bill Lawrence. Common question "If i could *snap* and make your wish come true what would it be?" Most of the kids did have TINY talent American/Canadian Idol can't hold a candle to Tiny Talent Time Later . . . 4. LOL ... yup, they'd trash it, 'cause who would WANT anything from there
  5. Totally!!! The Maaaaaaad Dash. TV sets always looked so cool. If you ever see one with the naked eye, they are so cheesy. HD will start to change that. Definition ... there was another local game show from the era
  6. Come on! At least mention Trucks' name. Give him credit. The reason Clapton hired him, and lets him play, is because of his TALENT. I'd love to have seen a show that was comprised completely of Clapton, Cray, and Trucks exchanging solos I don't know why I read mainstream "reviews" they alway bug the shit out of me (and not in a laxative sorta way!) Later . . . Kanada Kev =8) np: "I waited for you" Miles Davis
  7. Thanks for the review. I was bummed i had to miss it. I've been lucky to see him a number of times already, but i knew this would be a special tour to see (Trucks and Cray element!) If you're interested in a copy of the FM source Italian show from July (with the same lineup) let me know. I'll also try to find a torrent if one's still up. Cray's been coming out to perform along on "Old Love". Trivia note ... take a look at the liner notes on Journeyman ... you'll see that one of the engineers on that is none other than Rob Eaton (from the Dark Star Orchestra and Border Legion). You'll find his name on a bunch of Jimmy Buffet and Pat Metheney stuff too. Great guy.

  9. So, the show went on ... how was it? I so wish I could have made it, but it wasn't in the cards for me tonight. I've got a killer FM sbd of a Clapton show in Italy from this summer (with Derek Trucks) and it's really good ... much better than some of the stuff he's done lately IMHO (aside from Cream that is ).
  10. that is some funny shit ... got a good chuckle out of it while watching. crazy freakin' kitties man!
  11. Bob, i've given it 3 listens today! Once over breakfast and the paper, once trying to clean the pool before closing, and then making dinner. I agree with you on the first 6 tracks or so. After that I find it starts to disintegrate a little and get kind of repetitive. Still listenable, but it seems to start off a lot stronger than it finishes if you know what I mean. Not a fan at all of "1000bpm". Good grooves and the trademark Beck sound for sure. I gotta put Springsteen and Dylan wayyyyy ahead of this one :)
  12. That's my birthday !! They sure would make a nice gift
  13. Cool tune. I like it. I haven't heard that album ... just heard of it. Never got into the Kinks much, but I'd like to hear that one start to finish.
  14. This is a short poem made up entirely of actual quotations from George W. Bush. These have been arranged, only for aesthetic purposes, by Washington Post writer Richard Thompson. MAKE THE PIE HIGHER I think we all agree, the past is over. This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty And potential mental losses. Rarely is the question asked Is our children learning? Will the highways of the Internet Become more few? How many hands have I shaked? They misunderestimate me. I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity. I know that the human being And the fish can coexist. Families is where our nation finds hope, Where our wings take dream. Put food on your family! Knock down the tollbooth! Vulcanize society! Make the pie higher! I am the Decider!
  15. Should be a great show. I was lucky and saw them at the Horseshoe a number of years back. AMAZING gig!
  16. As of noon Q107 is saying that the show is ON !! Keep an ear on them this afternoon for notice of any change. Come on Derek ... here's your chance Later . . . Kanada Kev =8)
  17. Right on! Glad it all worked out and that you'll be in some smokin' seats for the show! Willy, sorry that there weren't more. Chili Peps for 2 nights? There's bound to be lots of extras at show time, no? Later . . . Kanada Kev =8)
  18. I haven't heard otherwise. Def keep your ear to the ground. Listen to the radio (who's sponsoring/promoting this show?) This might be a good link to refresh frequently: http://news.google.ca/news?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&tab=wn&q=eric+clapton&btnG=Search+News later . . . 23. I thought I posted this, but it didn't show up. Sorry if it get's duplicated: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0922061willie1.html Willie Nelson's Stash Evidence photo of items seized in pot-puffing singer's tour bus bust SEPTEMBER 22--Music and marijuana fans alike will appreciate this evidence photo memorializing the stash seized earlier this week from Willie Nelson's tour by Louisiana state police. During a September 18 traffic stop, cops smelled a strong odor of pot emanating from Nelson's bus. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up about 1-1/2 pounds of pot and a bag of mushrooms. The drugs were later photographed on the hood of a police cruiser. Nelson, 73, and four other bus passengers (ages 75, 59, 54, and 50) were issued misdemeanor drug possession citations and released at the scene. Thanks to our friend Steve Bloom, proprietor of the Blooming Ideas blog, for the heads-up on the evidence photo's existence. (1 page)
  24. Damn! Oh well, why doesn't he just let Derek Trucks loose on stage all night?? Brilliance in the face of adversity: Clapton postpones tonight's concert due to sore throat ASSOCIATED PRESS September 23, 2006 Eric Clapton’s concert scheduled for tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills was postponed because the three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has a sore throat. No additional shows on the North American tour, which kicked off last weekend, are affected at this time, tour publicist Kristen Foster said in an e-mail today. His next scheduled concert is Sunday in Toronto. “He is indeed under the weather with a sore throat,†Foster said. A rescheduled date for the show in suburban Detroit will be announced next week, The Palace said. The 22-date tour of the U.S. and Canada includes stops in 20 cities, including two concerts Sept. 28-29 at Madison Square Garden. Clapton, 61, then travels for shows in Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Copyright © 2006 Detroit Free Press Inc.
