  1. did anyone see sixty minutes this week? Pretty interesting stuff on the Bush administration covering up scientific evidence of global warming. changing documents, rewording to lessen the severness of the scientists' discoveries...

on another note, I'm 34, and I have told my students that when I was in high school, we did not have an environmental issue course. I have 31 students in my class. They are provided with information in which they can decide on what is right/wrong.... Opening minds to alternative ideas.

  2. I have to agree with Scottie on this one.. I have found in my limited experience that once that door closes, it is "your classroom." Sure, its not perfect, but there definitely is value. If you prefer alternative schooling systems, well the best of luck, but, I wouldn't give up on the public system because of bad experiences during your practice teaching... Wait until you have your own classroom--different story.

  3. I am assuming this is regarding my comments; Scott... Interesting observation--I am definitely not one that practices "tact." I guess its an obvious fault which I should take accountability for... However, I like to speak my mind as i--share my honest thoughts and opinions. Sometimes I think they are mis-interpreted to mean something other than what I am trying to articulate--(articulation is another one of my weaknesses since often times try to attempt to describe what I am thinking, it comes out the suggesting something completely foreign... (And I have an english degree---must have been some sympathetic professors at Brock)

Anyways, I just want to point out that I don't come on here looking to offend others, not my bag... I do love to debate, philosophize ideas, and discuss subjects that I know little about, comparatively speaking--(one example is the music scene, because I have really only taken a deep association to it over the past few years).... I guess its hard not to be ignorant when, well your ignorant!

I don't think "tact" will ever be an attribute I will truly grasp, so my apologies to those I indirectly offend.

Anyways, I think I have bored enough people with my rants today--carry on and have a good one!!!

  4. once again, I wasn't taking a stab at anyone here Esau, I obviously was interested in the post or I wouldn't have checked it out... I guess I can't help but be ignorant, since I have no clue how difficult it is to replace this type of equipment, or the significance to their music this particular type of equipment has... I think I was just thinking aloud, and just sharing an observation that I can't relate to other members enthusiasm or passion for the music scene...

  5. Thats Fuckin Low....Hope those Dirty Bastards get whats comin to them

Just a personal observation: I realize that this board is frequented by many people who are involved in the music scene-- and I hope I don't sound ignorant or insensitive to your needs... Also, I guess I should consider the fact that this is "jambands.ca" (you freakin dummy--duh) however, I find that at times situations that involve musicians are put on some sort of heirachal petistal... For example, I would agree that it is a very unfortunate circumstance that this particular band lost its equipment--I do hope they recover it, or at the least have insurance and the ability to either find the equipment they have been using or at least something compatible... I have to admit though, this circumstance doesn't really affect me all that much... Don't get me wrong, I love the music, I consider this genre (if there really is such a thing) to be my choice in music, and I do support it on a regular basis.... However, I don't share the same sort of passion , or emotional attachment as others...

(I do get extremely depressed by Buffalo Bill, Team Canada, Celtic--misfortune--which maybe reflects what I am thinking about here) I love to hear about shows, I find I have increased my musical knowledge two-maybe even three fold over the couple of years I have been here... I find that I am more interested in posts that involve the friends I have befriended, its an outlet to keep in touch with some mighty fine folk. I definitely have an interest in world politics.. But, I find there are very strong commitments to the music and bands here that I can't familiarize with at times.... anyways, this is by no means a slight towards anyone else here, I just felt like sharing my thoughts on the subject... Now back to the weekend...

  7. hey Trev, I am adopted as well, both myself and my sister... i have never had the opportunity to meet my natural parents--I had the opportunity to write a letter to my natural mother, just to let her know that I was ok, and so at the very least, everytime my birthday comes around, hopefully she doesn't worry any longer... I hope you enjoy the experience... pm me if you need any sort of support...
