  1. looking forward to partying with the KW and hopefully plenty of out of towner freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeks.

  2. ya, rebuild those old ideas... health care, are you serious?? You expect a right wing party to improve universal health care? and education?? this is not a socialist party.

irrational?? come on folks!!!! politics is not that complicated... Right wing parties are interested in investment, not taxes, which means less tax to improve investment and less dollars for social programs which you are expecting the conservatives to give a shit about. Politics are founded on philosophies not empty promises to get votes.

  3. wow, its amazing how people are accusing the Liberals of being dishonest because of a scandal that was initiated by the fact that there was a possibility of our country breaking up. Back room politics to save a separation crisis--how fucking awful.

Meanwhile, you have a "conservative" party being about as dishonest and indirect as you can possibly be in politics because they are afraid to stand by their policies because they are afraid of losing a vote!!!!!!

    excuse me??

    FREEDOM--AKA LIBERAL

  4. just a follow up on this: on Larry King Live. they have some conservative christian fundamentalists talking about the horrifying effects of gay marriage and relationships...

Do yo happen to remember exactly what effects they talked about? In all the discussion about same-sex marriage' date=' nobody has ever told me exactly how those who aren't marrying partners of the same sex are affected by same-sex marriages.

    Aloha,

    Brad[/quote']

Caught the tail end of it.. But the discussion revolved around "broke back mountain" and to be completely honest, they had no argument. They suggested that they would not see the movie and recommended that other's should not as well. The woman on the program used a story about some guy that helped out in South America that was a devout Christian(which had nothing at all to do with the discussion:great this guy helped alot of people in South America, a great example of a Christian, so why again are you against gay marriage?)---and discussed how she KNEW (not believed) that JC died on the cross and he was going to only save the non-sinners, because you know like, people who love another person, are such evil doers.

  5. I understand that. I mean, the best example of this that I can think of is the attempted coup in Valenzuela a few years back... CBC was there and they recorded the whole event and how it contrasted from what was been shown to the citizens of Valenzuela on television.

However, I just think the written word is a lot easier to frame..

  6. just a follow up on this: on Larry King Live. they have some conservative christian fundamentalists talking about the horrifying effects of gay marriage and relationships... now really, come on, how can anyone consider voting for Stephen Harper?? Do we really want the Christian Fundamentalist right ruling our country as well??

I don't think many people are considering the consequences of a conservative majority.

  7. well, once again, I would like to direct you to the definition of civilization--and three particular areas that they use to define 'civilization'--"marked by progress in the arts and sciences, the extensive use of record-keeping, including writing,"

what is interesting about today, is the shift in how we record history. It is no longer just in print, but in live moving pictures which can be far more difficult to manipulate--however, not impossible.

  8. how can you discover something that was already civilized?

i read this and started thinking about it.. isn't it odd' date=' the history we choose to call our own? or the history of the 'way it is'. you're right.. north america was settled long before the europeans, but we remember it as if it didn't exist until the europeans ran upon shore. so odd.[/quote']

here is an interesting definition: "An advanced state of intellectual, cultural, and material development in human society, marked by progress in the arts and sciences, the extensive use of record-keeping, including writing, and the appearance of complex political and social institutions."

I think what might be necessary to consider here is the word 'advanced' and how and who defines it. I would suggest it is usually defined by the one who puts it in print, which is usually parallel or equal to the one with the "bigger stick".

  9. man, it is really disappointing to hear that we could have a conservative majority. Really, I mean, for me, white professional male, I will definitely benefit on a personal level, but, for the greater whole of our country---a few steps back.
