  1. i had some weird stuff happening and clearing my jambands.ca cookies fixed alot of the weirdness.

Bingo. I tried that, and now when I go back to the main page the unread topics are still marked as unread. Excellent!

  2. Registered! Excellent. I'm glad this was mentioned on here, as I only use my Yahoo! account for this league.

I'm mildly drunk right now, so I'm going to assume that if I don't log in for the draft (which is a given, based on my time-zone issues) that I will auto-draft.

Hal - you are a prince, good sir, for setting this up each year.

  3. What I've got to alternate with the Dead is the Clash boxed set that came in around the same time. In the immortal words of Andy Dwyer, "Weirdly delicious."

There's a new Clash boxed set?

I just did a quick internet search and didn't find anything (admittedly, it's 12:40AM and I'm mildly drunk) new-ish.

    Please explain yourself, sir.

  4. Excellent work.

The whole article really struck a nerve with me, as I had a good friend throw himself off the top of his apartment building late last year and this column touches on a lot of things that went (and are still going) through my head. There is a lot of re-interpreting of past comments in a new light, and the constant wondering of "Could I have done something more?" or "Should I have seen this coming?" But really, when someone says they are "fine", all you can really do (notwithstanding obvious evidence to the contrary) is either accept his word or constantly distrust him.

  5. Assuming I like the Dead, but not enough that I want to download all of these shows. What are considered the better shows of this run?

Edit: My preference is less country twang and more jammy jam.

None of the shows are weak, but I would have to say that Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Rotterdam have always been my favourites. You also can't go wrong with the Strand Lyceum shows, especially the one on the 26th. And for some reason, I have a soft spot for the comparatively-short Luxembourg show.

  6. apparently spam is really popular in okinawa.

    true story.

It's massively popular in Korea. People think I'm crazy when I tell them that it is considered the lowest form of food available. On Monday I was at my sister-in-law's place for a big holiday meal. One of the gift bags someone brought her was a giant package of Spam and canned tuna.

  7. This has circulated as a bootleg for years, but it's coming out on Blu-ray etc. in November:

This November, Eagle Rock Entertainment will bring The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 to Blu-ray. Filmed at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas on July 18, 1978, the concert documentary showcased the Stones at their raw and stripped-down best, playing songs off their Some Girls album as well as other tracks from throughout their recording career. The set list includes:

    "Let It Rock"

    "All Down The Line"

    "Honky Tonk Women"

    "Star Star"

    "When The Whip Comes Down"

    "Beast Of Burden"

    "Miss You"

"Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)"

    "Shattered"

    "Respectable"

    "Far Away Eyes"

    "Love In Vain"

    "Tumbling Dice"

    "Happy"

    "Sweet Little Sixteen"

    "Brown Sugar"

    "Jumpin' Jack Flash"

For the Blu-ray, Eagle Rock has given the 16mm film stock that The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 was shot on a full high-def digital restoration. Similarly, the audio has been remastered from the original multi-track tapes. Two Blu-ray versions will be available for purchase - a single-disc Blu-ray and a Blu-ray/CD digipack with a reproduction tour program. Both will feature a new interview with Mick Jagger.

The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 is expected to street on November 21st.

  8. I woke up a few minutes ago to find a "Your item was shipped on Sept. 1" notice in my inbox. Still no charge on my credit card' date=' though. Tracking info says it has already cleared customs, too - so it should arrive before the weekend!!![/quote']

Same here, fingers crossed I see it soon. PS . there is apparently 30 seconds missing from one version of Big Boss Man on one show ... try not to freak out like somebody in the contents section on dead.net .

    I'll try to control myself.

I actually remember reading an interview with David Lemieux in which he mentioned that those 30 seconds were pretty much the only portion of music that wasn't covered by one of several recording sources.
