The problem, though, was that the drive wouldn't even recognize that there was a disc in it. It doesn't matter what program I use if the computer doesn't even think there's a disc in the drive.

Two months later... a solution! Insert discs into computer so old that the drive doesn't recognize anti-pirating technology. Drive reads discs. Voila!

Infinite Jest is a horrible, horrible book. The only reason I finished it was because I refused to let myself be bested by such a pretentious piece of crap. It's well-written in the sense that he uses language really well, but the plot is really much more interesting in theory than in execution. Essentially, it's a classic case of style over substance. So it was groundbreaking, yes, but not all that enjoyable. Like Yoko Ono.

His essays are really good, though.

Well... that was an excellent time. Good weather, great tunes, and good food. I saw absolutely none of you.

Putting aside personal nostalgia, is this run any good?

Spring '90 is the last great - *consistently* great - tour for the Dead, in my opinion. Sure, there were lots of great shows - great runs, even - afterwards (especially in '91) but there are no losers in the whole spring '90 tour.
