I'm doing NXNE Thursday and Friday and Pavement on Saturday. Not gonna try to make any shows Saturday night, gonna be a gong show getting off the island etc. Plus I imagine I'll be exhausted.
so much for fresh air, sunshine, lounging on the grass, views, etc. hello stale air, heat, cramped conditions, musicians opening for comics, crowded other stages. i think it's a really bad decision made by bluesfest.
Heard back from Bluesfest: Hi Alan, The Black Sheep is not a stage this year it will be a tent but will still be on the site where it was in the previous year. All the best!
Oh wow, it's like the BBC are thinking about doing exactly what I suggested. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/Result+plans+zone+free+drone/3153656/story.html
Broadcast the sound that's in the stadium. Lower the levels if you like, but part of the game is the atmosphere in the stadium. If you don't like it then oh well. They (broadcaster) could always provide an alternate audio track like is done for many sporting events, just turn the field mics off. I have no problem with the horns.
On the map there's no Black Sheep Stage. And it's hard to read on my phone but it appears the programming in te tent and on the stage don't overlap which leads me to believe that the music stage and the comedy stage are one and the same. I hope I'm wrong on that - hard to tell from my phone since the programming is listed separately. Agreed on your second paragraph Sean.
So there's no overlap between the comedy and music then? It's just one stage that they share in a tent? I don't want to see bands in a tent. So much for breezes, sun, views, etc. Hello stifling heat. Not to mention other stages being more crowded when the comedy is on. Brutal play, Bluesfest. (if I'm wrong in my assumptions let me know..)
No problem with comedy. Problem with paying more. Problem with them messing with the Black Sheep Stage. Where is the stage? It's not on the map. Just want sone answers. I'll email Bluesfest to ask when I get a chance.
Hey, fuck you separate ticket events. I already paid for a full festival passport.
Not like Wayne Brady is going to even slightly tempt me away from Iron Maiden or Kelp.
What's the deal with the 'Black Sheep Stage & Comedy Tent' location? They're gonna put an 800-seat big-top back there, in addition to the stage? WTF. What are you doing, Bluesfest?
I emailed Peter Simpson from the Citizen to see if he had more answers.
But in Ottawa I bet the Georgetown is good for most games. Salla San Marco for Italy games. Villa Lucia for Mexico games. If I think of more I'll post.
I can tell from the headline that that's not a Globe and Mail article. The original is at fauxcapitalist.com actually. Article also quotes The Star quoting a spokesperson for the Minister who says that they're trying to get the licences done quickly so everything is done by the time of the summit. Sticky oversight that's for sure.
still don't understand. there's a poster show somewhere that weekend, so that means there might be a phish show/festival/run? (i'm not being precocious or anything, i genuinely don't know what's going on)
