  2. PJC presents The Soundcatcher Tour Featuring DJ VADIM http://www.myspace.com/djvadim ABSTRACT RUDE YARAH BRAVO Also featuring: PEOPLES REPUBLIC (Warsaw Pack members) http://www.myspace.com/peoplesrepublicmusic DJ DONNA LOVEJOY http://www.myspace.com/raerae400 $10 advance, $12 day of. 19+, Doors open at 9pm @ Pepper Jack's www.pepperjackcafe.com 38 King William St. Hamilton (905)525-6666 http://www.myspace.com/djvadim DJ Vadim presents the Sound Catcher Album on BBE Records What happens if you cross a Brazilian carnival spirit with a reggae soundsystem and Brooklyn New York with a tour schedule that even dwarfs British Airways flight plan? The Sound Catcher is born. DJ Vadim, the John Coltrane of Hip Hop has been a very busy bee of late. DJ'g and touring his group ONE SELF, remixing Fat Freddy’s Drop, Gangstarr, Ojos de Brujo, Alice Russell...., re editing Prince, Al Green, Ann Peebles ....and now delivering his 5th and latest DJ Vadim LP (debut for BBE) which he considers as being 'by far my most concise, precise and best work to dateâ€. Not content with working harder than all 7 dwarfs put together, he transplanted him self and his 'timber yard studio' to Brooklyn New York in early 2006 where most of the latest LP was written and produced. All work and no play can be a very dull indeed yet The Sound Catcher isn't just about hard work. Its everything you’ve come to expect from the 4 weetabix a day powerhouse DJ/producer/musical incendiary and so much more: unpredictable with touches of disco and tubby-esque dub moments, varied with brushes of blues, soul and rap , urban grime bedlam with double time bounce and ambitious combining so many influences and yet making it feel like they all fit. Without doubt a major step forward from his last solo LP(the art of listening 2002 ninja tune), new, funkafied bop. “a big step forward†Hip Hop Connection, May 2007 “Sunday afternoon listening at its best†Notion, April the soundcatcher must be some of the best music i've heard so far this year - RE:UP Vadim destroys soundboards and bridges gaps between dub, jazz, hip hop, dusty downtempo with such ease - URB some true next level shit... Vadim proves there's plenty of room for the art of the culture(hip hop) to evolve and grow - rapreviews.com

  12. CASTANETS (Asthmatic Kitty) with special guests DEER TICK http://www.deertickmusic.com http://www.myspace.com/deertick JOEL ELLIOTT http://www.myspace.com/joelelliott and.. LORI YATES http://www.loriyates.com Friday, Nov. 2nd 9pm, $8 @ Pepper Jack's 38 King William St. Hamilton, ON (905) 525-6666 www.pepperjackcafe.com Listen to the new Castanets album In The Vines here... http://www.paperthinwalls.com/listeningparty/index?id=37 http://www.myspace.com/castanets http://asthmatickitty.com/main.php CASTANETS Derail it! De-tune it! Stack it all up and let it clatter back down again. Tour the innercoastal waters in a sailboat with friends. Get labeled gothic country and avant-something and psyche-something then tie it up in a burlap sack and toss it in the Rio Grande; toast life while the whole mess drifts down past Albuquerque and drowns somewhere outside Nuevo Leon. Castanets is American music drowned then reborn clear-eyed and wet with sea spray. Castanets is murderous nights and the 10 west sunset and crying gulls. Castanets is Raymond Raposa. Castanets is Raymond Raposa alone, walking through the dark and crowded dancefloor, singing bare voiced (rangy, high, cracked and real) with acoustic guitar. Castanets is a four-piece or a five-piece, six-piece, seven-piece, all-of-us-everywhere-piece stomping out electric tombstone chants or something that sounds like Pink Floyd with more heart. Castanets is delta heart, Nashville hands, outer space brain. Castanets is Cathedral (Asthmatic Kitty, 2004) and First Light's Freeze (Asthmatic Kitty, 2005). Castanets is banjo and strings of bells and howling feedback and high plains drifting and horn sections and brother folk-rock riding in a beater Datsun with sister free-jazz. What's on their radio? Harmonia? Dirty Projectors? Waylon and Willie? Castanets is going to look you straight in the eye and tell you "some of these friends of mine, how I miss them so." The truth is in the breeze and in the agate blue sky and under the earth. Keep your eyes open. Keep your back strong. http://www.myspace.com/castanets ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEER TICK is the songwriting project or band (depending on how you look at it) of John McCauley, a singer/songwriter based out of Providence, Rhode Island. Thanks to the help of Brendon "Viking Moses" Massei, McCauley has been ferociously zig-zagging across the United States, hitting all the sparsely attended basement shows, smoky bars, upscale joints, small to medium size festivals, and everything in between, since April of 2005. At 21 years of age, McCauley has worked very hard to get his homemade CD's in players across the country, and has no plans to stop any time soon. In addition to his own musical endeavors, McCauley has also collaborated with notable contemporary musicians such as Viking Moses, Jana Hunter, Nat Baldwin, and Jason Anderson. Deer Tick's first official release will come out on September 4th, 2007 through Houston's Feow! Records. Entitled "War Elephant", the album represents the fearlessness of a young man who will play a set at a New England sports bar while a Red Sox championship game is on the tube. But more than that, the album celebrates the art of songwriting and the songs that have advanced McCauley in his career and made him a unique figure on the face of music for the past two or three years. Deer Tick is currently signed with Feow! Records out of Houston, TX. http://www.deertickmusic.com http://www.myspace.com/deertick
