  1. Well Gary was born in '52 so he was right in the thick of it. I think the mental image of Gary dropping acid while holding some nag champa and spinning American Beauty is awesome.
  2. Depends on how hungover I am after poker on Friday, also I have an exam on Tuesday but I'm pretty sure we said we'd go to the Fan Fair if there was beer.
  3. I forgot, where's Alfie's retirement party being held and will there be cake? Are we supposed to bring a present?

If the Pats lose to the Giants again I'll pretty much have to be sequestered and sedated for a couple of days. I'm looking forward to it but I've got my concerns.

Mmmmmm, I'd go with the the Pats front seven really stepped up yesterday.

I'd take the points, especially if it's 3.5 and not 3.

I like the Giants chances over the Pats, NEs secondary is awful and the Giants have three good receivers.

Wow! What a way to lose a game.
  10. Sens game on Saturday? Check. Beers? Check. Dinghy, Brennan and me? Check. Fucking Sens loss? Check. At least it wasn't in the Basement of Doom.
  11. This same exact discussion came up when his name was bandied about when it looked like Murray was going to walk the plank. He's got scouting and coaching experience but I was definitely on the "let the expirement take place somewhere else" side of things.
  12. True (to the first point, I don't listen to sports radio on the other). Again, curious.
  13. Im actually very curious to see how'd he do. Let the expirement take place in Montreal. Getting him off the air would be a bonus for a lot of people.
  14. Pleeeeeeeease god, let it be McGuire.
  15. Im pretty sure that's the whole point of the fun and games, you came in and talked smack in the Sens thread and the Sens fans busted your chops, you could have, at any point, just let it go. Im glad you didn't though, this place is a morgue. Back to the Sens, I was fine with the trade but I didn't imagine it working out this well, this fast. I missed the game last night but my boss just went on about Turris. Watched a bit of the Leaves last night though, Lupul looked really good, here's hoping he gets injured.
  16. I'll take "Places the Habs can't score from" for $400 Alex! Cool pic.

    Bwahahahahahaha ........ Holy fuck, glorious
  18. Ultimately I was just trying to bust your chops as much as I could and correct, I'd never deny for a sec that Potvin is a massive homer but no I never meant to infer that all local commentators are equally homers just that they generally are to some degree or another and I pretty much get the impression they're expected to be. I do actually see your point. In truth, I usually watch games while listening to music as I find most commentary to be banal crap Also, no love Harry Caray? Hi everybody!
  19. Yes Hal, that's what I said, all colour commentators are the same. Way to read between the lines of my statement that local broadcast colour commentators are generally homers and get right to the nut meat. You're an insightful man. While we're being liberal with hyperbole, you're absolutely right, there is and never has been an equal to the Chisox commentators anywhere ....... especially in Chicago....ever. But agreed, it was nice to see the Sens dump the Leaves when it matters more than usual.
  20. I think Hal may be ignoring reality in general but I always appreciate it when someone sticks to their guns, reminds me of a certain hall of fame commentator. Kudos Hal. Potvin can be pretty funny sometimes, whether it's intentional or not.
  21. Again, no we shouldn't, he's getting paid to do exactly that, it's Sens coverage. And yes, it's that bad in other places, at least it is in baseball. I don't watch a lot of other local feeds in hockey, just Sens and whatever the hell CBC is offering up so I can't comment on that but have you ever listened to the local Dodgers, Phillies, NY Yankees, Cubs or Atlanta broadcast? It's as bad as the Chisox broadcasts you referred to. It's what they're expected to do. I'm assuming you had to the turn the volume off for the CBC broadcasts of Leaf playoff games (in the ancient dark years when they actually made the playoffs) because that was supposed to be an unbiased national broadcast and they fall all over the Leafs. No big deal though.
  22. It's pulp trash but it's well packaged pulp trash. I really enjoyed it but I've got a soft spot for horror. Jessica Lange makes the show and steals every scene.
  23. Jokes aside, as someone that has regulary sat through CBC's "unbiased" commentary on their national broadcasts, I've got no problem having the local legend that's getting paid to be a homer actually be a homer in the local broadcasts, you probably shouldn't either. The Panthers thing is hilarous.
