  1. Wasn't she rumoured to be dating Tory leader Stephen Harper a while back? I guess there is some trouble in paradise.

No it was leadership hopeful Peter McKay... and they were actually an item... not sure if they are still together though!

Love your post dude! Nine spelling and grammar errors is a new record!

  3. From epicurious.com:

2 pounds green (unripe) tomatoes (about 4 medium)

    1/2 cup all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon sugar

    3/4 teaspoon cayenne

    1 large egg

    1 tablespoon milk

5 cups cornflakes (about 6 ounces)

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter

    1/4 cup vegetable oil

    Accompaniment: fresh tomato salsa

    Preheat oven to 375°F.

Cut twelve 1/2-inch-thick slices from tomatoes. In a shallow bowl whisk together flour, salt, sugar, and cayenne. In another shallow bowl whisk together egg and milk. In a third shallow bowl coarsely crush cornflakes with hands.

Working with 1 tomato slice at a time, dredge in flour, shaking off excess, and dip in egg, letting excess drip off. Coat slices with cornflakes, pressing them to adhere, and arrange slices in one layer on a baking sheet.

In a 12-inch nonstick skillet heat 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon oil over moderate heat until foam subsides and fry 3 tomato slices until golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side. (Be careful not to let cornflakes burn.) Transfer tomatoes to paper towels to drain. Fry remaining tomato slices in remaining butter and oil in same manner. On another baking sheet arrange drained tomato slices in one layer. Bake tomatoes in middle of oven until tender and hot, about 4 minutes.

    Serve tomatoes topped with salsa.

Serves 4 as a first course.

  4. i see no reason in buying a good seat when there is never a problem moving seats at an ABB show in toronto.

I pulled that stunt with success in 1996; at the 2000 show I tried the same thing but the rent-a-cops ousted me... I escaped to the lawn where some other rent-a-cops caught me smoking a joint and tried to kick me out. I talked my way out of that and ended up in a box seat where waitresses took my beer order for the rest of the night!

Always a good time at the Molson Ampitheatre!

  5. Hmm... it's not on the allmanbrothersband.com website yet.

For the Toronto show it says "Watch for on-sale date".

That means, if you find out the on-sale date, and you're the first one to e-mail it in to them, you get a free watch!

  6. I can tell you what not to buy. Don't buy any amps made by Hartke or Trace Elliot. Unless you enjoy mystery cutouts during gigs.

Completely do not agree with the above statement.

You're lucky. I guess I just had lemons. Actually I've heard other people have problems with particular models of Hartkes.

  7. Is what's happening these days regarding rising prices and mass consumption really all that different than what happened in the 70's/early 80's?

Yes it's hugely different. The oil crisis in the 70s was brought on when Saudi Arabia cut oil exports to countries that supported Israel. The

forthcoming oil crisis will be because we are running out of the stuff.

I'm not talking about what's the right thing to do in terms of conservation, etc. I just think people are overreacting to the current situation... And why single out the US? Do we not drive cars in Canada? In the UK? Sure, this tax break isn't going to help things, but it's not like every person who owns a SUV is getting the break. It's a break for small business owners, which, given the current economic situation in the US is probably a good thing. What are businesses supposed to do? Deliver their goods in a hatchback? I'm all for saving the world or whatever, but this isn't just a US problem. It's a global problem. Why not be more concerned about all of the third world countries who are consuming oil at an unheard of rate (due to their lack of technology), or their abuse of coal, etc. These are things that I find much more pressing of an issue than some tax break...

George W. recently announced the US will increase their use of coal in the very near future.

When the people running the US are so in bed with the oil industry, I think that is good enough reason to single out the US. And I'm an American citizen.

  8. When I was in Florida last month, I met somebody who told me about a great community radio station in Tampa. They've got a show on Tuesday night that plays "Freak" music! At 8 pm they'll be playing an hour of live dead. You can tune in on-line: WMNF 88.5 FM
