Tune into Carleton University's radio station,
CKCU-FM, 93.1 on your dial, this
coming Monday night, December 16th,
from 8-10 for a special program on the
Ottawa Jamband Scene.
I'll be your host. "Bouche" and "Dr. Hux" will
join me in the studio for lively night of great
music and some insight into our incredible local
scene! Not to mention some great prizes for
listeners!
People outside of the Ottawa area can listen
via our RealAudio service, provided by Magma
Communications. Just go to this link:
With your enthusiastic support,
we can make this a regular show

Not likely at any Future Shop in Ottawa!
I tried to by Trey's disc at Future shop
the day it came out. I asked if they
had it, and the chick looked at me as
if I was from Mars.
In Ottawa, try CD warehouse. It will
probably be cheaper than 17.99

On the way to Detroit to see "The Other
Ones" on Saturday, coupla' lads in an
SUV pulled up beside me, giving the thumbs
up sign, and smiling. I guess they saw
the PHISH sticker on the back of my car.
The passenger wrote a note: "Going to
Detroit?" it said. I gave the thumbs up and
we all waved.
He wrote another note: "I have a copy of the
new Phish disc for you!". So we all stopped
at the next rest stop and he gave me a copy.
(Obviously pirated off the internet). He was
just "spreading the tunes", he said!
Didn't get a chance to listen to it until I got home, and I've been listening to it since Monday. Unfortunately, my impressions of this disc are not favourable. I have to say that Round Room is my least favourite Phish studio recording.
They say they did this album in four days in the studio. I wish they would have spent a little more time on it. This album is way too mellow. There are no songs on this that are gonna make wanna get up and dance when played live. Round Room lacks the funk of
"Ghost", the fun and humour of "Hoist", and
the introspectiveness of "Billy Breathes".
It sounds to me like their record company made them record this in order to have something to promote and sell on the upcoming tour. Let's hope they keep the Round Room tracks to minimum in concert, and concentrate on the old stuff!
That being said, I will still purchase Round Room when it comes out next Tuesday.
6 out of 10. Your mileage may vary.

I just received my tickets for Hampton.
Woohoo!

Yes, what an awesome show. Hey Mark! I saw you in the hot tub at the Holiday Inn. I just recognized you from your avatar. Sorry I did not say Hello that night.
I've stayed in hotels all over Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and that was the first time I've ever been in a place where the pool was open all night.

In the Ottawa area, I'd say get away from
the city to see this thing. Champlain
lookout in Gatineau park would be a good
place.

Oysterhead tix were going out front for around 10-15 dollars max. At least not enuff to entice them to come north with location, tax, and exchange.
That doesn't make sense. Oysterhead's not currently touring, so they wouldn't be playing in Canada anyway. That $10-15 you're talking about was people trying to get rid of extra tickets they had bought. The band doesn't care about that. Massey Hall was jam packed for that show, I don't know how you could say there were "no attendees"

I've heard tunes by the Dead, the Allmans,
and even Black Sabbath at the grocery
store at the Westgate shopping center
here in Ottawa!

Dude, you stole my avatar!
I'm staying at this holiday inn:
Reasonable rates and close to The Palace!

Yep. That snow-blowing train wreck was in the movie "Rock Star".

Thanks to my brother for getting up early on
Saturday and ordering tickets for me!
Section 120 Row G. Not too shabby!
See you there.

Got my tickets today. $15 advance at the
bar downstairs from Barrymore's.
Ticketmaster wanted $37 for a pair, and
Barrymore's wants $20 each at the door.
See y'all there!

I heard that Ron had a tentative, perhaps
a verbal agreement with the producer of HNIC
for a 600,000 salary, and it was nixed by the
VP of CBC, because he didn't want Ron making
more cash than other high-profile CBC talking
heads (probably Mansbridge).
Sounds to me like this VP is just grandstanding!
Hey, since CBC gets 800 million a year from the Canadian taxpayer, that means we're
all paying for Ron's salary. Write to your
MP and demand they sign Ron MacLean!
-
I'll be there too. Does anyone know if Barrymore's is open during the day so I can
get my advance tix? If so, what time?
Thx.

Keep trying over the course of the day... some people screw up their credit card info, and ticketmaster will release those tickets.
Also, they set aside a certain number of tickets for their employees, VIPs, and generally well-connected people. If those people decide not to claim their tickets, ticketmaster will release them close to the concert date.
It's worth a shot!

Well congrats to those of you who got NYE tix.
I got shutout again. I guess it wasn't meant to be! Oh well, at least I'm going to Hampton!

I met Mike Gordon in the campsite at the Gorge in 1997. He was making his rounds on a golf cart, saying "Hi" to phans everywhere.
At the time I was getting a massage from a lady who had set up a massage table in the campsite. She was a massage student, and was charging $5 for a 15-minute massage. After about 5 minutes, she said "Your massage is over buddy!". I looked up and there was Mike. She wanted to massage him!
He respectfully declined the complementary massage offer. I got up, said Hello and gushed over what a wicked bass player he is! He thanked me profusely, said Hello to everyone who was around, then left on the golf cart!
I did get my remaining 10 minutes on the massage table!
-
Can I assume, since I did not get such an email, that my tickets are on the way?
Nah, I won't believe it until I see a huge $$$$ charge on my credit card bill!

I love the sanc. It's a great way to get info on upcoming shows (especially in Ottawa). I've met a few of you and you're all great!
Funny thing is, now that I'm unemployed, I spend much less time on the sanc than I did when I had a job!
it's 2:30am and no ones mentioned PHISH onSNL

Good to see "the boyz" performing again!
It looks like Fishman has filled out a bit!
I agree that Peanuts cartoon was a hoot,
and Al Gore is as stiff as a board.
SNL needs a major re-tooling. The only thing I like on it these days is the Weekend Update and the cartoons.
