I've got my fingers crossed for "Corrina".

We'll need a full report on what the crowd is like, FbN
My guess is an audience full of would-be carnies
Holy moly! that free show at the race track / casino was full of would-be, and also several actual carnies.
We got there right when the gates opened, so we went right up front. You should have seen some of the characters up there. One double-fisting, chain smoking, brown toothed fellow, was annoying and hilarious at the same time.
He wrote down his name and asked me to send the photos I shot of the show through facebook. I checked out his profile - everything's in capital letters.
A fun time was had by all.
Getting back to the topic though: I heard that some Lilith Fair concerts were canceled today because of sluggish ticket sales.

Hey Booche & dave-O, it was great running into you guys - sitting just a few rows in front of me at the CMAC!
Mixed feelings about Gonchar, he's a great defenceman and good offensively too, but $5.5M a year is pricey. Should have put the money towards Volchenkov? Not sure how much Volchenkov will sign for with another team.
An interesting free agent "frenzy" so far.

I totally agree with phishtaper. I had a ton of fun!

See you there Brad!

Reading the fine print in that article, it was written prior to 2006 and I'm pretty sure somebody posted in here back in the day. It's time the 50 worst list was updated!

The real question is - were any of those Manowar?
Sadly, no. But I'm 3 for 3 on Jaimoe's list.
-
I've seen 14 of those bands/artists in concert.
Can anyone top that?

people were visibly shocked from my office, though all those fire drills sure helped. no one hesitated to wait for an alarm
Did you notice how I left in Costanza-like fashion?

Getting rid of the greed is the only thing that will save it IMHO.
That and more cowbell.
Speaking of declining ticket prices and more cowbell, Blue Öyster Cult will be playing a free outdoor show at a casino close to Canandaigua, the night after the Phish show. I'll be there with (cow)bells on!

I went and got a pulled pork sandwich. It was excellent as always. Didn't catch the name of the vendor - I was too busy laughing at the protesters from PETA!

My vote's for Hubert.
The desserts, the sauce, the cole slaw, and the portion sizes are all better at St. Hubert.
As for Swiss Chalet, their sauce is a little too sweet for my liking. They seem to have the blue hair market sewn up, though.

Calgary Jazz Festival Cancelled Due to Impossibility of Financial Success
They should have just asked for a government bailout.

I'll be going, likely Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Perhaps I can come up with something new and quotable for RD's signature!

Many of the above postings in this thread are either funny or helpful. Or both.
Thumbs up all around!

I don't see the need for comedians at the Bluesfest. There's plenty of comedy already, and it's all free:
- Whitey getting patted down by security guards
- the ongoing battle with the lawn chair people
- arguments with Lawrence "Don't call me Larry" Gowan
- adults freaking out because they're asked to produce ID to purchase a beer
- Eugene's annual "these bands used to play Zaphods" tirade
- noise complaints
- " isn't blues!"

Anyone get tickets for the Montreal show today?
I tried but it was 'complet' in 30 minutes.

I'm surprised you're not sending an e-mail to your old buddy Armstrong over at the Sun, AD. He seems to have his finger on the pulse of all things Bluesfest.
Iron Maiden in Ottawa

Triple guitar attack!
I thought the entire evening was great. DT and IM are two of my faves. I did not go home disappointed! I liked that Iron Maiden concentrated on the later material from their catalog. I'm not as familiar with those songs, but they were great. And the really old stuff they played - Wrathchild, Running Free, etc. was just great.
Edit to add: Bruce Dickinson is probably the most athletic rock singer around. I got exhausted watching run and leap all over the stage!
