  1. Exactly. This is what the opposition - or at least one element of it - to the proposal seem to be suggesting: TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release).

    Alley Cat Allies Press Release

The problem of course will be convincing the people of Wisconsin that this program is something that they should be willing to pay for. It can't be cheap. Right now, the farmers and others are already killing the cats in order to protect the bird population (misguidedly so, if you believe the feral cat advocates) and livestock.

Interesting to note that even those who are appalled by the idea of making a sport of cat killing are still suggesting that something needs to be done. Few are saying to just leave them alone.

And because the board seems love all things John Paul II ;) -

    The Pope & Homeless Cats

(though it isn't about violent feral cats per se)

  2. The mission: to not piss meggo off too much before Canada Day weekend, 'cause she's got wheels, baby!

(and while I could always throw my thumb in the air and show a little leg to get there, I might be feeling too exploited by the time I arrived to have any fun)

Hey cranky-pants ... didn't mean to hijack your thread dude. It does sound like a great show and a goodtime afterparty.

  3. What, no Canada Day festival madness this year?

Is it just the crack I've been smoking, or isn't there usually a CTMF every long weekend?

I know that I've certainly hit it up more than once per summer in the past ... haven't I??

  4. fuck you fuckers and your Montreal nonsense. No CTMF? I love MMW - and Montreal! - as much as the next guy, but hell, there's nothing like debauchery outdoors.

You can always blast some gabber at the campsite and alienate some folks who might have otherwise been new friends }:|

(hmm .. still problems with the cuss filter. The top line was meant to read the equivalent of 'fawk you fawkers and your ...')

    NEIL YOUNG MAKING 'EXCELLENT' PROGRESS

NEIL YOUNG is expected to make a “full recovery” after suffering a brain aneurysm.

The music legend underwent surgery last Tuesday (March 29) and is making “excellent” progress, according to his agent.

Agent Bob Merlis told BBC news: "The doctors say his progress has been excellent and the expectation is that he will make a full recovery."

Young had planned to perform at Canada’s Juno music awards on Sunday, but was advised by doctors not to travel.

He said: “I’m really disappointed that I won’t be able to make it to Winnipeg for the Junos as I had hoped.

”I grew up there and was really looking forward to the show as well as spending some time with my old friends and family.

“Thanks to my doctors, I’m feeling a lot better now so I hope I can get a rain check.”

The aneurysm was reportedly discovered after Young’s vision became blurred while participating in the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony last month.

  6. I'm confused, so some people on here are using multiple accounts.

Yep. Some pretty long standing ones, too. The 'meggo' username, for example, is actually a means for Del to explore his softer side. (don't mean to sell you out brah ... I'm pretty sure most folks had that one figured out already)

  7. Hehe, great products page on that one.

    The Hard Road to Manhood

"Christian wrestling tempers lust while promoting male bonding. Make a man out of yourself - wrestle!"

Hey, full circle ... we're back to sex, god, and chastity ::

  8. Wrestling and biblical law?

That is quite possibly the strangest juxtapostion I've ever heard. ever.

    Christian Wrestling Federation

    018.jpg

Vision: To be a Christian outreach ministry that shares the love of Jesus Christ, through wrestling events around the world.

"The focus of the CWF is to win souls for Christ. Our passion is seeing the lost become saved."

  9. Hrm, the blurb seems a little dated. "Smell Of Our Own" is probably the one to hear as an introduction, but they've had another major release since that time ("Mississauga Goddam") and are well past the point of just being "poised" to belong to the world.

Their live show is supposed to be phenomenal, even if just for the way they manage to work out the arrangements with so many musicians on stage. Hope you get a good turnout at the Casbah.

I remember seeing a poster about the HC coming to Ottawa, but don't remember when or where. Anyone got the details? Anyone planning to go?

Fun fact: one year on the way to 'palooza my girlfriend of the time mashed a wad of her chewed gum into a pre-'out' Joel's hair, prompting one of the most hysterical (in both major senses of that word) hissy fits I've ever witnessed. He deserved it, by the way.

  10. Whoa, you covered a lot of ground with that post :)

Hmm, and what's up in the Soudan... why isn't this slathered over the front page of my Newspaper everyday...

b/c novel and sudden events make the front page, and the tragedy in Sudan has been neither novel nor sudden. Ever notice how people's eyes glaze over when you mention Darfur? Yeah, the editors have noticed that too ...

(Hey, what was that constant refrain after Rwanda? "We've failed humanity. We must never allow this to happen again"? Hmmm. Funny, that.)

Besides, now it's the logistics of rehabilitation, sanctions, and maintaining the peace. If the blood and carnage wasn't making the front pages, the rebuilding period certainly isn't going to.

  11. If you don't like it, don't go to that person's home. It's like me saying that because I'm allergic to cats, people shouldn't own cats so that I can visit them in their home.

*phew* Glad I read this when I did! I already had the bucket filled with water and little cleo by the scruff of the neck ...

    I would've missed her, too.

  12. Was hoping this was an April Fool's post. Damn. Ok, cranking all the dials on the Mega-GoodVibe generator to 10.

[edit to add:] I think they tend to be fatal only when they've gone undetected and erupt, Bokonon. This seems to be pre-emptive surgery to avoid that happening. The article suggests this was a scheduled operation and that he's expected to make a full recovery.
