Hamilton: I'd like to leave it ambiguous if I could, partly because that's where the humour lies (for myself, at least) and partly because I don't want to be construed as endorsing sexual assault in any capacity. DEM: I'm loving that Nietzsche on Christianity book you lent me. So much to comment on ...

    BAN LUKE: Poll

In. BTW, WTF ever happened to Lazlo? Kung is doing a decent job filling the position, but y'know .. you miss what you know.

ooohhhhhh, the godhatesfags.com people. Fucking nasty, I almost regret asking for clarification. *big sigh*
  5. Don't burst, out loud or otherwise. We'd miss you. Yeah, there are certainly sheriffs, but their role and scope of authority varies from region to region. And none, to my knowledge, are elected in the way that sheriffs in the US are elected. Another reason why Hunter S. was born in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. (fighting temptation to make sarcastic use of the word 'derivative' in reference to the position of the original poster ..)
  6. No, but I'll happily extend you my own acclaim just the same, and non-existent vote too, if need be

    BAN LUKE: Poll

People talk about music on here?
  9. Well ... I think it comes down to this: nobody (but crackpots) has deemed it politically incorrect to celebrate Christmas. What some people (yours truly included) take issue with is for the state to adorn itself with Christian-specific language and paraphernalia at the exclusion of other traditions that share equally significant religious holidays during the same time period. That doesn't happen with Easter. If the local courthouse/city-hall had put up a giant display of a crucified Jesus to commemorate the event, while at the same time ignoring or dismissing Passover, I'm sure it would have gotten tongues wagging. I think that part of what we appreciate about a contemporary secular state is that it doesn't wallow in its own prejudice, so there is a tendency to react quickly and decisively when it begins to do so.

See ya Kurt ... glad you were here!
  11. You two should find a babysitter and come over for a playdate.
  12. For sure. Someone (Snelly?) had mentioned a couple Canadian tour dates this year, but haven't seen anything official ..
  13. Coren's a dink and a terrible discussion moderator ta boot.
  14. Yeah, it sorta sounds like just stating the obvious, but it seems like the connection does need to be drilled home, given comments like the following from the article .. It's not astounding, it's appropriate, and the relevance of the piece clearly hinges on that timing. Argh.
  15. With the underscore I get my jambands profile as first hit, and some guy's ugly ass myspace page. Without the underscore I get a company called drawk (the bastards who got drawk.com before I did), some geeky tech stuff that I've done under the same name, digg profile, etc.. but then this: Wild oats! Hah! Who knew? I love it.
  16. Just be gentle about it. I prefer to be treated like a lady ... at first, at least. (Hah! I first accidentally posted this as meggo, which gave it a whole different flavour ..)
  17. Having just returned from a Habitat for Humanity build in Guatemala which she organized, look who's in the local rag ... fame! Nice work meggo! I know that was a whole lot 'o planning, and no small amount of stress.
  18. Dude, when the fuck did you get married?
  19. It's awesome. Get the veg thali, too!
