  1. Esau: When my lab Arlo was younger I had problems with the gorging food and water aspect of the breed. I started putting tennis balls or rubber toys/kongs in his food dish while he ate his kibble and because he had to eat around them it slowed him down. Maybe see if this helps with yours.

I think that my dog has figured out that burping dogs is really funny to humans. He always seems to perch himself right in front of me before doing so and wags his tail furiously while I laugh and laugh. Smart boy...

  2. There's a little greasy spoon on mount forest drive called Mount Royal Pizza that serves up a great poutine. They use fresh cut fries, dark beef gravy and a combo of mozza and chedder cheese. Good price too. A large can feed three people and it's only 5 bucks. Check her out Baj.

If you and Toolers plan to get cable and internet service you should check out Cogeco. Erich and I pay roughly 140 a month for phone, internet and cable. The good thing about the phone is that you can call anywhere in Canada or USA anytime and it's a set rate. To get the deal you have to have an exsisting telephone line with bell though. Good Luck and i'm sorry we haven't came over yet. It's been a crazy week..:(

  4. I've actually been wondering what a Liger looked like. He's pretty handsome!!

    Deb: What are you drawing?

    Napoleon Dynamite: A liger.

    Deb: What's a liger?

Napoleon Dynamite: It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.

  5. If anyone knows anything about me it's probably that I am a huge animal geek. I work as a dog groomer now and I previously worked with a reputable pet store. I have 2 bad kitties and an aquarium full of fish. I love dogs and horses the best though.

Growing up I have always had dogs. The main dogs in my life were my dads three Labs. We had Mabel and Leroy who produced Lester. Leroy lived with us for 4 short years before he passed away. He was a great dog and because of that Lester being his son has always been a favourite.

2 years ago my dad decided that he would like to get a yellow female. Her name is Adeline, Addie for short. She's a sweet little girl and gets along great with Mabel and Lester.

My dad decided that he wanted to have a litter of Lester and Addie's puppies. The first litter is spread out among freinds and family and all turned out nicely.

Now we move on to the second litter. Djed and I recently moved into a home with a backyard and alot more space. This means I can finally have my own dog. The puppies were born the day we moved here actually..:)

Adeline and Lester had a litter of 2 yellow females, 4 yellow males and 1 black female.

The pups were all very sweet. I got to visit with them today. We picked out our puppy and decided to name him Arlo. He's a very big pup and looks a great deal like his pops. He comes home 3 weeks from now...

I'm very excited about welcoming Arlo into the Zoo. He's a puppy with alot of family history which makes him all the more special to me.

I'm sure that all you other pet owners out there on Jambands have amazing stories to tell about your four legged freinds. They bring so much happiness into our small worlds....

  7. As a child I loved getting read aesops fables as well as fairy tales. Jack and the beanstock was my favourite. My grandmother taught me to read before school so I remember in grade 1 hiding novels in our basic readers. I loved anything by Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary. Then it was the babysitters club..

  8. Welcome Twitch!! Congrats Calamity and Evil!!

I sincerly love rabbits. Dwarfs are known to be very sweet and docile while other rabbits can be quite aggressive. A perfect choice for a home with kids!!

    Some ideas for you Calamity:

Daily handling and cage cleaning from an early age socialises your rabbit and causes him to only be friendlier. Keep in mind that the first few days are a huge adjustment phase and the rabbit shouldn't be handled too much just yet.

You should keep your Rabbit in a central location so that he gets used to the familiar noises of your household. He also will come to like seeing you and what you are doing. He's probably hiding at the moment.

Speaking of hiding he needs a small wooden hutch in his cage. It provides privacy as well as helps with his ever growing teeth. They are chewers and they need to chew to keep there teeth at a managable length. Another way to keep them short is provide alpha or timothy hay daily for him to chew on. It also helps with bowel movements and has beneficial nutrients.

I read that the lady from the pet store told you not to feed too many fresh veggies for the first few weeks. Good advice. The change in habitat and learning more about humans will make your Rabbit very stressed which can cause diarehha. Diarehha is the most common reason of death in small animals. When you clean the cage you should note the consistancy of the stool. If there is any sign of diarehha you can get a product from any pet store called wet tail. It is a liquid added to the water and can cure an animal in a matter of days.

Rabbits are very clever little animals and will become fairly tame. You can train him to hop on a leash when wearing a harness, litter train him as well have a sweet lap bunny.

If you need any specific advice just send me a pm!!

  9. This recipie forum was a great idea. I'm hoping someone may have some yummy veggie dishes my bf and I could try out. This soup I have been making for years. It's great on a night you don't feel like putting alot of effort into cooking, although it tastes like you did!!

    3 tbsp. butter

    1 lg. onion, sliced

6 lg. ripe roma tomatoes, peeled and chopped

    1/2 c. fresh chopped basil

    3/4 tsp. sugar

    1/8 tsp. ground white pepper

    1 3/4 c. chicken broth

    1 c. macaroni noodles

    1/2 cup shreded chedder cheese

    Salt to taste

In large stock pot, melt butter and cook onion stirring frequently. Stir in tomatoes, basil, sugar, and white pepper. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes covered. Stir in broth and salt. Heat to steaming. In another pot boil macaroni, strain and add to tomato mixture. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Serve in indivdual bowls and cover soup with cheese. Serve with garlic breads and salad for a quick meal!!

    Hope someone will enjoy this.

  10. I've read all of you woderful stories and decided I would like to contribute one of my own about adoption..

My Aunt had a baby girl at a very young age and decided the best option was adoption. This was kept a secret from the younger half of the family. About 4 years ago my cousin Meighan was told by my grandmother that she had an older sister and she immediatly started looking for her. Chardel (now my oldest cousin at 40) was found about 2 years ago. She and Meighan are very close now. Chardel and I have met at a few family functions and talk via e-mail as well as messanger. She has became a very important, fun and quirky member of our family. The odd part of my story is her mother does not have any interest in meeting her. Chardel is completly fine with that and more then happy to have met the rest of us. She has told me a few times that with connecting with the lost part of her she feels more complete.

I wish you all best in your communication with your mother cyber hippie. Good Luck!!

  11. I would recommend using the supper shopper. If I still lived in the simcoe area I would probably have bought everything I own from there!! If you find a geet, you can make sure with your musically inclined friends that it is a decent deal. You may be able to get a very good quality guitar for the same price as a new poorer quality. Also I would check pawn shops and used stores. Well I would, i'm kind of cheap.

    Good Luck Marge!!

  12. For years I had a Columbia jacket that was for spring/winter. It had an outer wind resistant shell and a polar fleece jacket that you put inside in the winter.

Last winter I splurged and bought a jacket that is down filled and almost reaches my ankles because I freeze in the winter, even with multiple sweaters under the columbia jacket.

I can seriously wear a short sleeved shirt under this new down filled jacket and stay toasty warm, unlike the Columbia jacket.

I personally think comparing the two that my down filled jacket is extremly warmer then the Columbia jacket. If you have your recipt I would return the jacket you have now for a down filled jacket.

  13. I'm really excited too Geoff!! The Goblet of Fire is my favourite book so far. I reread all the books a few weeks ago to prepare myself for the movie. I really want to watch it tomorrow when it comes out but i'm not looking forward to all the hyper kids. I plan to go see it this weekend for sure!!

I'm really looking forward to the tournament scenes, as well as the egg in the tub scence. Mermaids and Merpeople, Dragons, Voldemort, Magical Creatures...oooh!! *way to excited*
