  7. careful what you buy, Ms Zimmy. a lot of turbinado sugar sold in north america is just coarsely-refined white sugar with molasses added back in. "sugar in the raw" is not raw sugar - all of the healthful impurities (moulds, fibres) have been stripped out.

  8. i always thot that icing sugar was finely ground white sugar with about 3% cornstarch to prevent moisture from clumping it. chemically, it will behave differently than plain, finely ground, white sugar. thats what einstein told his cook :)

    back in the 70's when it opened, my friend's mother left her purse on the sill, remembered it just as it was "coming back around", but everything was still there. can you imagine that nowadays?
