  1. I find that unbelievable. I would like to see you sit down with a war historian, ie. an expert, I think I would enjoy it. Hux, i have sat down with war historians, more than you probably can imagine. I find it really hard to believe that you don't think what is happening over there can be termed 'war'. Can armed conflict only be called war if it is provoked? That's a bunch of bullshit.
  2. hux, war is war, regardless of who started it and why, provoked or unprovoked. bombs, guns, troops, special ops, guerillas, all signs of war. i can't believe i'm having this conversation.
  3. Not really. War: 1. a conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or between parties within a nation; warfare, as by land, sea, or air. 2. a state or period of armed hostility or active military operations: The two nations were at war with each other. 3. a contest carried on by force of arms, as in a series of battles or campaigns: the War of 1812. 4. active hostility or contention; conflict; contest: a war of words. 5. aggressive business conflict, as through severe price cutting in the same industry or any other means of undermining competitors: a fare war among airlines; a trade war between nations. 6. a struggle: a war for men's minds; a war against poverty. 7. armed fighting, as a science, profession, activity, or art; methods or principles of waging armed conflict: War is the soldier's business.
  4. Chameleon, wars aren't won on 'exit strategies'. Historically the exit strategy has been called 'retreats', when losing armies run and hide and victors plant flags on foreign soils. Perhaps the Americans stepped this up a notch when they figured the only way to get out of Japan was to bomb the shit out of them and literally obliterate two huge cities.. in a 'there, take that' move. There's no such thing as an 'exit strategy'. You either win, or you lose. If you lose, it's called 'pack up the troops and run and hide'. This whole talk of 'exit strategy' is only a way for the American government to save a little face. That's just it. The job isn't done. I have a question. What do you think about the situation in Sudan-- the Darfur genocide? Do you think that we shouldn't help because it's not our place? Because, technically, the Sudanese national government are 'small time dictators', who just happen to have now killed more than half a million people and have put more than a few million in fear of their lives? Imperialism, unfortunately, has gotten a really bad wrap over the years, mainly due to exploitation, but i think it's important to realize that along with power, does come some sort of responsibility, in that if you can help someone, you should help someone. And regardless of what motives led the American troops into Iraq, in the long run the world is a better place without Saddam Hussein, lives that were in peril now are not and soon, one day US troops won't occupy that country, and that will, hands down, be a good thing. Rebuilding a country after war time is never perfect and never looks good. This time is no exception to the countless hundreds and thousands of wars that have occured throughout history.
  5. uh. i can't help it either. at some point today, i'm sure i'll blast that one superfly show that i have somewhere. gooooo superfly! haha
  6. haha! i had an andre the giant figurine.. my little brother had king kong bundy. i cut off king kong bundy's head with scissors and stuck it on a tooth pick and paraded it around in the hand of my cabbage patch kid. hahaha. my favourite was hacksaw jim duggan. i don't really remember, but i think at one point some executive of the WWF was from chatham or lived in chatham, or something to that effect. all i know is that the WWF came to memorial arena when i was younger and i was there. it was great.
  7. **pretending i didn't read this** I couldn't agree more. I was just saying the other night out of all the pop icon idiots of today, JT didn't fit the mix. That dude is talented.
  8. okay i'll drop the wwii reference! I don't think anyone goes into war with an 'exit strategy'. You don't plan on losing a war when you wage it. You plan on winning. All of this exit strategy talk confuses me. I think moreso this is the look that modern warfare has taken on. It's not just in Iraq. This is what parts of South America and Africa have looked like for years. Okay, one more wwii reference and one more godwin for good measure. Hitler actually wanted to 'partner' up with Great Britain. You might not want to believe that Iran and Syria are crazy, but i don't. They're crazy. shit, you show me a government who hasn't lied to their people during wartime!!
  9. I wish people would stop drawing similarities to Vietnam. Iraq isn't Vietnam. And the world is better off without Saddam Hussein in it. Sometimes people can't do it on their own. Imagine GB didn't step in to stop Hitler.
  10. My good buddy used to bartend there.. that's sad... i liked that place too!
  11. Why boycott his business? Are we that 'hardcore' where we only shop according to political preference? If you boycott his business, I hope you know how every store owner of businesses you frequent vote. It would only make sense.

  16. My new years resolution is to continue sticking it to Hux, every single chance I get. haha..
  17. nerds: 1 geeks: 1 i'm neither. i'm cool.
  18. Just wondering if anyone has any big plans for themselves this year? Or if you're a hater of making resolutions? I tend to only make resolutions for things that I don't currently do that i would like to, rather than the kind where you stop doing something that you currently do. ie, if i was a smoker, saying that i'm going to quit smoking in '07. screw that. with those kind of resolutions, the whole build up to new years is like impending doom-- no thanks!! i think this year i'm going to work on getting a little side business up and running.. and writing more.. and knitting more and becoming more techy with computer related activities. i think it'll be a good year. what are you doing or not doing?
  19. Happy frickin' new year!!
  20. Just wanted to say Happy New Year to the people that I regularly have it out with and want to strangle. You're all a good group of people on a good day! All the best in what's to come for you!!
