  1. IF you'd like to try what many connoisseurs consider to be the finest beer in the world, you'll have to get out your wallet.

A six-pack of Westvleteren 12, a Belgian strong ale with 10 per cent alcohol, will set you back $85 (including a pair of beer glasses) at a Manitoba Liquor Control Commission outlet, or a little more than $96 with taxes. That works out to more than $16 per 330-millilitre bottle.

  3. Hmm, that's really odd. I've never come across a CD I wasn't able to rip - especially using the tools you mention. Perhaps I or someone I know has the same CD. I'm sure you know where I'm going with that, PM if you'd rather.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/22/guns-in-school-plainfield

An Illinois community southwest of Chicago is astir after the local police chief proposed a new method to protect students: bring more guns to school.

Plainfield Police Chief John Konopek wants officers regularly assigned to district high schools to be allowed to keep an AR 15 semi-automatic rifle under lock and key in school offices so they are better prepared to handle school shootings, if the situation were to arise.

School officers will be the only ones able to access the weapons, NBC Chicago reports. Konopek notes that training exercises have shown that officers are "much better equipped to handle this type of incident" while using a long gun -- with greater range, accuracy and stopping power -- versus a handgun.

"Unfortunately, in today's society, active shooter incidents are no longer something we see on TV," Konopek said in a statement according to the station. "They are reality."

Konopek notes that a rifle inside the school merely increases an officer's access to firearms as necessary. Patrol officers keep a rifle in their squad cars.

"It's a very sad statement about society, but we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't [prepare for a worst-case scenario]," Konopek told the Joliet Herald-News.

District spokesperson Tom Hernandez has said that the school board is willing to consider the request, and a vote is planned for Monday, according to the Sun-Times Media Wire.

The request to store guns has been made for Plainfield Central Campus, Plainfield East, Plainfield North and Plainfield Academy, CBS Chicago reports.

While one board member told WLS-TV that he can support the idea, some Plainfield residents are concerned it sends the wrong message -- and carries risks.

"What's the likelihood of an innocent party being shot and killed if they do use the gun?" Plainfield resident Brian Wilson told WLS-TV. "I'm just completely opposed to guns in the school at all."

The proposal in Plainfield comes after a February shooting at Chardon High School in northeast Ohio. Three students died and two others were injured after 17-year-old Thomas "T.J." Lane opened fire in the school cafeteria just before classes started in the morning.

The shooting came to an end when the school's assistant basketball coach and study hall teacher Frank Hall chased the teen out of the building.

Lane has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder.

  5. Anyone know the death kill for these guys?
Over the duration of the series, Walt has killed approximately nine individuals associated with the meth drug trade, and was indirectly involved in the death of two others. He, along with Jesse, are responsible for taking down four distinct groups and gangs involved within the drug trade.

Of course, this may or may not have changed by now. ;)

  8. The same fools will stand up and defend the standing army of the Capitalist Monarchs in one breath, and the Right to bear arms with the next, never noticing that the Right to bear arms is meant to defend the nation from just such military forces as the one they are currently occupied by. frustrating

  9. http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/article/ohl-announces-fines-sanctions/125102

The Ontario Hockey League, (OHL), has levied fines totaling $400,000.00 against the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club and taken away three 1st round draft selections and two 2nd round draft selections from the Spitfires.

“In 2009 the Board of Governors of the Ontario Hockey League developed the OHL ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM which is designed to address and attempt to eliminate violations of the RULES and impose appropriate penalties if violations occur. The enforcement process is an integral part of the process to ensure integrity and fair play among the MEMBER TEAMS. One of the fundamental principles of the enforcement process is to ensure that those MEMBER TEAMS that are abiding by the rules are not disadvantaged by their commitment to complianceâ€, stated OHL Commissioner David Branch.

“The League conducted two separate investigations led by our Director of Security and Enforcement, and in considering all the facts, I was persuaded that the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club violated the League’s Player Benefit and Recruitment Rules and Policies. While the penalties may appear to be severe, the League and its Member Teams recognize for any such violations of our Recruitment / Benefit Rules and Policies, we must send a strong message to preserve the integrity of our Leagueâ€, concluded Branch.

In addition to the fine, the Windsor Spitfires shall forfeit 1st round selections in the annual OHL Priority Selection in the years 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2nd round selections in the OHL Priority Selection Process for the years 2015 and 2017.

  10. strange that it can't be turned of as a pref. it should be up to the user to decide if they want protection or not. that makes it feel like you're on a managed desktop where IT controls your settings.

Yeah, I like having control over the way I set things up.

I made the suggestion to have the link info appear in the address bar when you hover over a link, and then disappear when you leave it, or at least an option to configure that. At the very least allow some customization, like a setting to NOT show the urls of every button or emoticon on a website.

  11. Yeah, I knew that it couldn't be turned off that's why I was looking for an extension to hide it. Just as I did with FF.

I'm not worried about inspecting the links previous to clicking, I have more then enough protection (MBAM Pro/ESET NOD32/Commodo firewall) for anything I might come in contact with on the sites I frequent. Plus, it's not really hard to inspect that shit on my own if I have any suspicions or concerns.

Oh well, I'm thinking that google has made sure it can't be hid, hence the lack of extensions to hide it. I'll just use chrome for that one site I guess.

  12. Just the one that says "Wating for jambands.ca" or whatever, but of course that disappears when the page loads.

That's what I'm looking to hide. When you scroll over a link, picture, emoticon or anything really, it appears showing the url. Some of the urls cover the entire page width.

  13. I've never really warmed up to chrome, but after a few issues logging in a private tracker (related to FF) I decided to set chrome up. I figure someone here might be able to help.

I want to hide the link/url deal in the bottom left of my screen. It's distracting. I know it's considered a "security" feature by google and as such cannot be disabled within chrome, but I'm thinking there must be an extension out there to hide it (like with FF) But, for the life of me I can't locate any. Anyone know of one?
