  1. Hey all,

I'm working on a little music project of my own, very bare and beginner. (Stemming from here, remember: http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/260124 )

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any good tips or ideas as to where I could cop a free piano session and record there.

I'm thinking a lot of churches have decent pianos and are often not used during the weekdays. Or schools even...?

    Any other ideas?

Just a shot in the dark, but figured might as well try.

    Thanks

  2. The encore was his cover of "A Case of You" which he first played on BBC earlier this year and then he started playing it in the live sets and its officially out on his newest EP "Enough Thunder".

  3. I have a feeling he doesn't have too many fans in this board, but I been spinning this album since earlier this year and it is still my top fav.

Anyway, I saw him in Montreal the other night and captured it all. Just wanted to share in case there are any fans:

  4. Heya,

    Here is something of mine:

Of all the places to share things, I'm most nervous to post this here as I know we have some amazing musicians on this board. And like I said it was quite rough and I know I'm not that great of a player as displayed by that flub at 0:44 and the timing of the entire song. But its just something I wanted out of me.

    Umm..enjoy...maybe?...or plug your ears?

  5. I'll let the press release do the talking, but it looks like they are going with their friends at Hand Drawn Dracula label.

Bruce Peninsula 'Open Flames' and Tour

Hand Drawn Dracula is proud to be working with BRUCE PENINSULA, who return with their sophomore full-length album, Open Flames, October 4th 2011. The multi-musician ensemble gives us 10 new, sprawling songs, drawn from the skin of a drum and sung from deep down in the gut.

It has been quite a journey. Bruce Peninsula's previous record, 2009's self-released debut, A Mountain Is A Mouth immediately caught fire, garnering countless glowing reviews and a Polaris Music Prize long-list nomination. Their raucous, big top live show, featuring at times, a 10-musician sprawl, has converted audiences across the continent with headline appearances at SXSW, Pop Montreal and Halifax Pop Explosion. Songs from that album (along with Open Flames' opening track) were used to score the full-length feature film Small Town Murder Songs, which premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.

Bruce Peninsula spent the middle months of 2010 with their heads down, hard at work. The idea was to write quickly, second-guess less and to push musical boundaries beyond their signature, progressive-gospel sound. By the end of the year, the band was sitting on a wealth of new material and had planned a release of Open Flames in the Spring of 2010.

But, in December, as the master came into hand, the band were suddenly sideswiped when lead shouter Neil Haverty was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Open Flames would be forced to wait while Haverty endured treatment. The band created The Bruce Trail Fire Sale, an online campaign of new videos, covers and b-sides not featured on the LP to help calm an anxious wait. After a long and dreadful winter, Haverty is officially in remission and Bruce Peninsula is finally ready to take its next step forward. With a new choir on hand (featuring, among others, Daniela Gesundheit aka Snowblink and Tamara Lindeman aka The Weather Station), a fresh lease on life and Open Flames at the ready, Bruce Peninsula are born anew.

  6. Since I won't bite for the LG, he put another offer on the table; a Epiphone 335 Dot Cherry finish with a hard case and some cash (amount not specified).

hmmm....not sure, while I do like the hard bodies, my heart still lies with this Tele.

  7. Hey guys,

So this morning the person who sold me that Donahue Tele above, was wondering if I would be willing to sell it back.

He says he is willing to trade for one of his Godin LGs that have more pickup options and better value, but he is willing to take the loss to get the tele back.

Now the thing is, I have grown used to it and really do like it. But I know full-well that I'm not the type of guitar enthusiast who can describe all the techy aspects as to why, in fact I know very little about the guitar itself. But I do jam with it with friends, and was just around the corner to start recording as well.

But on the other hand, I feel bad for the guy in that he misses it, ya know. And maybe he sees more value and use for it than I..?

Anyways, I suppose the starting point would be for me to a) get some pics of the Godin and if I like what I see B) try it out to see if it plays to my liking.

But I just thought I'd ask you guys what your initial impression would be. And what would you do if you found yourself in this situation?

  8. I got there during the last song of EC's encore, so there was no lineup. I didn't think it was too bad when it did get moving and there was ample standing or sitting room for whatever your preference.

    Yes, they were selling booze.
