Time for some Bluesfest trivia.... Who is the Great Escape Artist?which is Patrick Watson. Not sure if that means he's billed to come. If so...I'll flip my username.
Isn't it a new Jane's Addiction album?
True say. And the fact that they had it in title form (using capital "A" for Artist) indicates that it is more likely the answer.
PW isn't playing too many Ontario shows, or shows at all for that matter until Fall/late Winter (new album 2012, psyched!)

I assumed it was just for this tune, that they had him sit in. Or perhaps even just for this session.
-
Oh yeah they did. I just realized that opening slot they got to do on the Canadian leg is what brought them a lot of the attention.
-
Well to be honest, they had one of the longest lineups on Thursday at NXNE in Toronto. And yeah, alot of people were talking about them.
-
...I don't want one of those super beginner bang around ones 20 dollars one. I'm looking for a decent one maybe in the 50-75 dollar range. Any suggestions?

Bruce Peninsula are playing as part of SummerWorks Festival on August 11. Jennifer Castle is opening. Taking place at the Lower Ossington Theatre (ahh to see BP in a theatre).
-
I'd like a some James Blake too..

Allo -- if anyone is heading down to Toronto on either Wed June 15 eve or Thursday June 16 morn/afternoon and is looking for some company, I'd be ever so grateful to hitch a ride. I'm looking to attend some NXNE and hanging out in the T .
Thanks

Amazing lineup! Too bad I can't make it that weekend.

Hello good people,
I'm going to be heading to Montreal from Ottawa for this show on Saturday. Was just thinking of offering a ride in case anyone wanted to also head down (either show or Montreal in general) as that could alleviate the costs for me as well. Coming straight back after the show.

Here's an interesting "cover-based" one...
http://www.southernsouls.ca/btfiresongs.html
On the last day of a recent band retreat to Dyer's Bay, sometime between breakfast and rehearsal, Ivy said "I don't really listen to new music, unless my friends made it." It sparked a healthy discussion (Bruce Peninsula can be an opinionated bunch) but in the end, no one disagreed with the sentiment. The truth is that Bruce Peninsula could never have existed if not for the talent that orbits around it. Since the beginning, members have been recruited after showing their stripes in another project. Beyond that, the presence of local musicians and the music they make has been the source of endless inspiration in all of our lives.
In an effort to celebrate both sides of that coin, Bruce Peninsula and Southern Souls have teamed up for a series of videos featuring individual members of the band leading songs written by songwriters that they know personally.
We hope you enjoy these first four, shot a few weeks back on Toronto island. Stay tuned for further instalments, to be posted as part of the Bruce Trail Fire Sale later this summer.

Mitch Fillion, the man behind the brilliant Southern Souls, joined us on Toronto island a few weeks ago to film the first group of songs for a series that features each member of Bruce Peninsula taking on a song written by someone they know. Daniela played MGMT, Matt covered the Silt, Andrew played Alex Lukashevsky and Ivy took on a Skydiggers songs. Stay tuned for 6 more of these as the summer rolls on. For now, we hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed making them. -
Sorry (I'm not even in the same city to go to the show) I was just trying to decypher what K Drew tweeted:

barr brothers. like no other. DEATH is sold out. Dakota will be alive. 10 pm. xAnd I just realized now what he means is that Death Cab is sold out tonight at the Phoenix.
Muh bad.

Kevin Drew is pumping them up big time and now its sold out. I wonder if we'll see a future A & C re-release of their album followed by the mass acclaim.

MPA is great!

They are in in a few hours. /lastsecondreminder

yes yes yes

Hmmm interesting pointers, thanks.
Thanks for the input guys. But the AKGs are out of my prince range. I'm more in the max $250 range.
I'll investiage further re: the 57s, so far this seems like the more sensible choice for beginners.

...and based on a little research and some friend's recommendations I have it narrowed down to Rode NT3.
Just wanted to run it by here, as I know we have some experienced home recording folks in the house.
I'd want to record acoustic guitar, violin, cello, flute, piano...and if it would work with electric guitar amp too, that'd be a bonus.
Thanks

...and just a few minutes ago they posted a cover of Pentangle's "Light Flight"

Some songs from my favorite show of 2010:

Robert Plant last night

I thought it had its peaks and its valleys.
The Los Lobos cover was great, as was House of Cards. There was also this song where it was quieter and darker, the lights were all blue, more texture-based, damn, that was my favorite of the night.
The non-Plant stuff was just alright. Some stuff bored me and I thought Gallow's Pole was going to blow up at the end, but it just faded out.
