  1. Also, I have heard that someone was recording from up on the balcony, where the dude was running the lights.
  2. Phorbesie - if you are going to be in Thornhill at all, say near Stn Mtn's, go to Centre Hockey Sushi, on Centre St. west of Bathurst. $11.99 All-You-Can-Eat sushi and lots of other Japanese food for lunch! Heading there in about 15 minutes for my weekly visit.
  3. Go hide in your little pink house taper.
  4. Should be a Cougar fest. Har Har.
  5. Happy HalloWEEN! Looks like the whole show!
  6. I really don't like when someone tells me to vote for someone/something specific. Why not just say "WC is nominated for an award, so listen to the nominees and cast your vote for your favourite track"? By the way - congrats on the nomination.

    Tax Cuts!

bouche, basically $631 of your income that was previously taxed will not be taxed. I figure if you take your highest tax bracket, and apply that tax rate to $631, you will see what you will be getting back. In cases where you are taxed 30% or so, that should be an extra $200.

    Tax Cuts!

Just announced: - The Goods and Services Tax will be cut an additional 1 per cent as of Jan. 1, leaving the federal consumption tax at 5 per cent. - The basic personal income-tax exemption will increase to $9,600 from the current $8,929, retroactive to 2007. And it will increase again to $10,100 as of January 1, 2009.
  9. Yes Jaimoe, the Atlantic is tougher, but last year it went like this: Versus New Jersey - 2 wins, 2 losses Versus New York - 3 wins, 1 loss Versus Boston - 3 wins, 1 loss Versus Philadelphia - 3 wins, 1 loss Comes out to 11-5. Philly didn't get any better and that loss came in a throwaway, last game of the season, but I can see the Raps easily going 3-1 against Philly, maybe 4-0 this year. New Jersey has Kristic back, but I am expecting another split with them this year. New York? Some experts have them in the playoffs - I think they are still a highly disfunctional team, which will continue to disappoint. I say we go 3-1 again this year. Boston is stronger, but their big 3 need to play 38 minutes each, 82 games, to make up for the rags on the rest of that roster. Don't think the Raps will go 3-1 again, but a split is entirely conceivable. All that being said, this "far stronger" Atlantic division could and should still net us a minimum 10-6 record.

    Knocked Up

That doesn't make sense? The movie was over 2 hours long, and had, in my opinion, about 15 minutes or so of good comedy. You can't hate a movie based on that?
  11. FYI, looks like tickets from MusicToday were mailed out today!

  13. Check out Wikipedia for the consistent decline in quality of the Vegoose line-ups. No shocker the festival was run into the ground.
  14. Apparantly word from AC Entertainment is that the 2007 incarnation of Vegoose was the last. IMHO, the promoters screwed this one up by trying to expand beyond the "jamband" festival that rocked the town in 2005, then started a downward spiral. Too bad - 2005 was incredible, 2006 was fun but much smaller, 2007 was a total bust (I have heard 12k tickets sold per day).
  15. I'd love to hit Panic in Hotlanta, but flights there are so pricey in that period, mostly because Hartsfield is a huge hub, and many Florida flights to/from the Northeast stop in Atlanta. BUF-ATL for Panic right now has a lowest fare of $330 round trip. Too pricey.
  16. I assume you meant for that to be in purple font.
  17. If there isn't a Phish show on NYE, I prefer to do nothing. Such an overhyped/overpriced/underwhelming night.
  18. Well, the Kool Haus ticket was a tough one a couple years back - not immediately mind you - I think it sold out 2-3 weeks before the show. For some reason, Toronto seems to be a HUGE market for Ween.
  19. Actually, I was quite impressed with the sound system. The bank of speakers they have halfway back is a big plus. You would think with the lofty Canadian dollar we will see more shows up here. I just think Ween has outgrown all the big "club" venues we have in Toronto. The 5000 capacity venue at Woodbine, opening in 2010, will certainly fill a void, but the next time Ween comes to town, my guess is they will play the ACC theatre.

    30 Rock

That sequence with Alec Baldwin roleplaying at the shrink's office had me flat out on the floor. If it is at all possible to clinch the best actor in a comedy Emmy award in 30 seconds, Alec Baldwin did it. I am comfortable proclaiming 30 Rock the best comedy on TV right now. Tina Fey (writer, star) is a genius, and I can't wait to catch up on season 1. On the Tina Fey front, I suggest you go rent Mean Girls. Fey wrote/starred in that film, and even though Lindsay Lohan is in it, it is hilarious as well. Definitely a hidden gem.
