May 8th will be my 24th birthday. I like the Dead. What do I win?
A lifetime of enjoyment of the Dead, you lucky devil ... wish I was that cool at your age, I didn't get into the Dead until my late 20s.

Creed is a God.

8-27-72 ... it will crush your puny head.

And here I was just thinking that it was just a celebration of my 37th birthday

"And it only weight 500 pounds ..."

Simple solution ... spontaneous moshpit at whichever main stage does not have an act currently playing, that way the lawnchairs will be destroyed.

I've got a bunch of albums that have been encoded in DTS 5.1 and some original Quad mixes that have been transferred to DTS. You just burn them to a CD and play them on a DTS capable player (like your new DVD machine). If you're interested, let me know and I can send you a bunch of them on a couple of DVDs.
Sounds cool, I will e-mail my home address.

meh....sub par if you ask me...I don't think I'll be going this year...too many fuggin lawn chairs...
Actually, I am wondering how the lawn chair system would work this year ... since instead of having one main stage where the lawnchair mafia would set up, they have two at opposite ends of the field and alternate act, so it doesn't look like they would be able to stay in one spot without missing half the main stage lineup.

I know I started this thread, but just wanted to say that the Marillion concert DVD Marbles On The Road plus Blackhawk Down are both proving to have awesome surround sound.

Sorry about the booger line. It is the same... I think. However, the episode where Johnny left and then got fired from another station was changed. Remember he came back and told everyone that he got fired, but not for saying booger. He got fired for saying something else, but what he said was edited out. What got him fired?
One of the 7, I assume ... it was deliberately edited out of the original broadcast.

My bad for assuming hippies were pretty tight with the environmental movement.
Check out the closing shots of Woodstock, the movie ...

My most used WKRP line:
"Oh my god, they're turkeys!"
Ah, my other most used line ...
Mr. Carlson : With God as my witness, I swear I thought turkeys could fly

My favourite is when Les preached about music to Venus during a lecture Venus was giving to a tough gang-banger kid:
Les: If the Beatles are the construct of modern music - and I use that word "construct" incorrectly - surely they were given birth to by Elvis Presley, a giant for sure, but the product of the black experience. Ergo - and I use that word correctly - blacks created modern music! Scratch an Allman Brother, and you have black. Scratch Billy Joel [pronounced Joe-well], and you have Howling Wolf! I could go on, but my mother is in town. Let's just say that every white rock and roll musician working today should take half of his or her paycheck and mail it directly to Chuck Berry. At least that's what I think, and I won't even go into jazz. Arnold, enjoy your visit to the station. Venus, nice visiting with you too! (He waves goodbye enthusiastically and exits.)
Thing is, it wasn't just an enthusiastic wave, it was a rather jaunty version of the Black Power salute ... this was the conversation that began with Les saying, "I couldn't help noticing that both of you are black ... "
My most often used WKRP quote?
Johnny : When everyone is out to get you, paranoia is just good thinking.

One of the Scum Of The Earth was played by Michael Des Barres, who was later a cast member on the (justifiably) short lived New WKRP.

Nothing to do with anything, but in the cover art to Blue Kentucky Girl, Emmylou Harris looks amazingly like Jan "Bailey Quarters" Smithers.

Not sure, could be ... as I said, I won it, so I didn't have to pay for it, and so far it sounds great in our living room, plus it plays all the discs I need it to play.

Weird thing is the system I got (Sony Dream System) says specifically it does *not* play DVD-Audio ... disappointing, but I couldn't beat the price.

I wasn't sure what the difference between 5.1 and DTS, but yes, it does have both options. Thanks for your help ... what exactly makes it better?
-
Hey, there,
Through circumstances I still haven't figured out, I somehow managed to win a home theatre system at work. This 5.1 surround business is still new and exciting to me, and I was wondering if people could reccommend which DVDs make the most cool usage of 5.1 . Movies or concert films are both of interest.

Drat, sorry, any way this topic can be removed? I swear I checked but couldn't see the thread.

Didn't see this posted, pedal Steel legend Sneaky Pete Kleinow passed away recently at an SF care facility. Most famous as a part of the original Flying Burrito Brothers, he first came to my attention for sessions he played for Frank Zappa and Matthew Sweet, but in his day he worked with practically everyone. Vaya con dios, Sneakster
