  1. So Heaven really is a place where nothing ever happens, only oddly it has a view of both the Rideau Canal and the Parliament buildings.

Fag boy (zero) tagged along and can't stop laughing at the fucking like Bob Saget stupid pet voices en francaise and all the parts he laughs at sound so fucking dumb it's painful. The Movementarians Simpsons episode in French was pretty dope though. Oddly the only thing they didn't translate except a sort of faggy french accent was:

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Leader
  2. What's up Fag Central? Holy Fuck this is funny, not the band, like -- well you remember that time when that Luke guy disowned you all - the hilarious thing is that when - and basically only the Narrator would know this- anyways after you all wiped the chocolate shit from around your lips- You Sound Like Those Stillepost Twats.

Oh and this Vieux Farka Toure guy is basically the balls on Next Best Thing. Dead/Phish good. Show Hova.

  3. These Stillepost bitches have pushed me too far. Can't everyone see I'm resting here?

Uhhh awkward much. On a point by point basis so that we don't have to interact like this much longer.

Luke, (and I'm actually serious here) you don't understand what a messageboard is or how people interact on one.

That is frankly the most idiotic and high handed and exactly my fucking point about the manzie-panzie-as-fuck, the aforementioned Flouncing Nellies, that have somehow taken over in a frankly Neo-Connish faction certain online contingents in the Canadian music scene*. Do you hear yourself? because I honestly suspect you were beaten as a child. Clearly every message board is different, yes certain conventions do exist but they differ based on what is agreed upon by that specific community**.

Who are the Style Police? We are the Style Police they say, only 13 years late and in the same leggings.

As to name dropping Jews are clearly affiliated with Negroes and their often uneasy but jovial and historical friendships are based on the also uneasy and jovial but dead serious realization that they are both hunted. As far as the further implications of New Jewish Music on Hip Hop goes and such and such

*'Canadian', 'music' and 'scene' all intended as highly ironic and laced with multiple interrelations

**The cast of characters their online and sometimes virtual relationships often being complex, intracted and convoluted to non-Masonic members

  4. That and if I saw that happen in person I would have definitely gotten into a verbal altercation and although I am surprisingly not a violent person I would seriously consider stepping it up to a physical altercation. Boys and Men have the option of doing that. Particularly in rural bar towns. What a fucking panzer. I am seriously going to get to the bottom of this and shove that exact same trip right back into his face.

  5. That whole night was emblematic to me of the conflict between the indy and jam niche subcultures. The tension was palpable if you were watching for it.

Let me put it this way, the greek word for ritual is I believe dromenon (a thing done). Greek theatre is an outgrowth of ritual- a thing done on stage. Smashing a CD is very deliberate, ritualistic, moreover public and degrading. Doing it in front of a venue to a band you are playing in support of makes it more dramatic. There needs to be a counterpoint or three to this kind of histrionics. Great you were in the fucking Ghandarvas, move the fuck on.

  6. I know many of you know and love the Slip musically and increasingly personally. I haven't had the fortune of seeing them on either level in a while and it's a bit of a hole in my heart. I was walking across downtown Guelph today and caught myself singing Lazilee (Through The Iron Gate) one of their songs that means a very great deal to me. 'I get tossed like a bone to the dogs in the sky'. Their music has become such a lodestone to me, guiding me through moments of crippling self-doubt, loathing and indecision. Buoying me through moments of joy, exhiliration and dignity.

I am just so very happy for them and also sort of exhausted. I have been going blue in the face telling ANYONE (especially musicians) who will listen just how great the Slip is. I guess part of me self-consciously worries they'll forget about their diehard fans that have stuck with them through some difficult times. I guess I'm saying they've stuck with me through some difficult times.

  7. Do not fucking trifle with me Beats. You really have so far from a clue most of the time it's laughable. And I still give you the respect of reading your bloated run-ons.

Where is it you think I'm coming from on an issue like this. I found the guy kind of skeevy in person and the Jenny thing was part of it. The snide stiff upper indy lip was most of it. Finding out that I was right in my sense that they were holding their nose up at a sojourning band with just as legitimate a right to practice their craft (and be recognized) as anyone else pisses me off to no end. What is it I owe these groups? Why is anything off limits whatsoever? Certainly Web 2.0 and a new litigious age of internet libel will soon take these rights away from us so good on you for being part of that Beats 2.0.

I thought it was an inspired idea of Tim (Van Gogh's manager/booker) to pair them and if not for their woefully shoddy attitude it worked out totally well. Clearly they feel they should be closing but I don't know how many people want to mournfully shoegaze past 1 O'clock. But hey if your cult of personality is big enough.

Boston's Apollo Sunshine has been likened to the Flaming Lips, the Elephant 6 collective, the Kinks, Queen, They Might Be Giants, and Beck. None of these bands really sound alike, so which one really describes Apollo's sound? The answer is all of them, and none. While Apollo Sunshine's music may be remniscent of any of these bands at any given moment, the strength of their debut album, Katonah, lies in a sound that is very much their own.

Apollo Sunshine is a trio: Jesse Gallagher (vocals, bass, keyboards), Sam Cohen (guitar, vocals, pedal steel), and Jeremy Black (drums/percussion), who met while attending college in Boston and are now in their early 20s. Katonah was recorded (with the help of their former college professor Andy Edelstein) after a year of playing shows in the Boston area (including a residency at TT the Bear's) and on the East Coast (Macrock in VA, and opening for the likes of Piebald, the French Kicks, Mink Lungs, the Mooney Suzuki, and Sahara Hotnights.) The album is an epic of sorts, a bizarre pop opera that takes the framework of simple, straightforward rock songs and expands it into a kaleidoscope of sound.

  9. Put it this way, people who post here are in serious trouble and we all need to think carefully about what this community means to us, and how we can hold ourselves to a better standard.

censorship bothers me, which is part of what prompted me to start this thread in the first place. it is EACH person's responsibilty to think before they type, and to stand behind what they say. if you want to be an ass and attack people & say mean things, well you know what, you'd better be able to stand behind them. YOU'RE the one making YOURSELF look like an ass by being mean, and if you choose to say things publicly, then you're also choosing for the public to see them. it shouldn't be up to the moderator of an internet message board to protect your image (in some cases, what little image you have left). it is each person's individual responsibilty to choose how they will react in any given situation, and along with that comes taking any and all consequences that may result. taking the high road speaks volumes, but if you feel in a particular instance a different road is the one you need to take, then at least be prepared to stand behind what you say. if you've said something in the heat of the moment (who hasn't), that crossed the line and you regret saying at all, then step back up to the plate and apologize. but if there's no plate to step back up to... ya know?

    [color:"red"] Wise. Words.
