YO Dude. Good job on kicking the habit! I too was a smoker.....BradM is right for sure. Identify and break habits that lead or generally include smoking cigs. I always found not being able to smoke whilst pounding brew was a major hurdle. Also, I always enjoyed having one right after a nice toke. Those will be your tests, young Jedi. You could always just smoke more ganj

ahhh yes, love these threads!! Always read about good tunes, movies and books on here. You folks rock!
Cds:
Jack Johnson : Brushfire Fairytales. Just really easy listening music! I just recently got a whole slew of live Jack shows...drop me a line if you dig...http://db.etree.org/forbin40
Govt Mule: Off the Deep End Vol 1. I crave this disk.
Phil and buddies: Bonnaroo set. Cool set cause Warren isn't playing. Not saying I don't like Warren, just a different sounding set b/c of his absence.
Scofield: Uberjam. Yep, this is a good'n.
Primus: Seas of Cheese. Havn't busted this out for a long time. I gotta find a copy of Frizzle Fry one of these days...thats my fav Primus disk for sure..
some good movies ive seen lately:
The Man Who Wasn't there
FUBAR (some pretty funny shit)
Orange County

OH, and please people, i know you all mean well and just want to spread the tunes but don't give out logins to ftps that you don't run....garcia.etree.org siteop may be a friend of yours but its still not cool. Just read an email from him stating that he can't even check his mail cause so many people are hitting his box trying to login and get bonnaroo shows.

Don't live in Ontario but ill toss in my pick(s). I don't know how much they are or anything but Percy Hill might be a good fit in there, no? i would also second the Cousin Fungis and Antibalas picks! Also, any group playing around Col Bruce Hampton would blow the roof off of the place!! John Butler Trio would be cool too.

Hey Mark, Shawn McD here. I sent you an email a few days ago regarding Scene and Heard...My account went down for a day or two and when it got back up your email was bouncing....just wondering if you recieved it. sent it to your jambands.ca account.

ha, thats funny! must be a Panic fan or something! the cheeseheads and spreadheads don't seem to like eachother much. to each their own.....

also, many people archive their shn files to cdr. you burn them as a data disc. you can play shn on your computer (and subsequently through your stereo). go to etree.org software page and download the shnamp plugin for winamp. works like a charm. of course for conventional cd players you must burn audio (wav) discs.

Tonight, Wayne Shorter Quartet

Thursday, Charlie Haden @ the Jube

the ultimate guide for bratwurst. Just had some tonight so i thought id make a post!!
take some brats. Take some beer (something decent, no canadian or kokanee, or bud). take some onions. take some good strong german mustard. Put into pot. bring to boil. boil until brats are white. simmer for a while. heat grill. once grill is hot take brats out of beer broth and grill til browned. take bun. take saurkraut. take onion. take mustard. add brat and other contents to bun. eat while drinking beer, preferably tasty home brew. say "this is fucking great!" at least 5 times. repeat all summer long.
mmmmmm, beer boiled brats grilled to perfection.

Dude..i agree with the bacon. 1:1. Its all on cdr so there is no extra effort here. You're getting ripped if the guy wants extra blanks...of cource if you were getting VHS off of him that might be different. 1:1 dude! Equal trade....
As Phil always says (in a different context of course) :
"...fair is fair"

its true. go check out www.gdlive.com and download a shn show from there. if you have troubles figuring it out i can totally help you out.
OR, go to www.ctree.org and sign up on the email list. post the exact same message as you did here and you'll get lots of people burning shows for ya.

if you're not familiar with usenet, here is your quick and dirty tutorial. The newsgroups (usenet) is where almost ALL the newest and best Dead seeds come from, rare shns of bands not normally seen on etree and the like. you can get downloads going as fast as 300KB/sec (more?) and EVERYONE can be downloading the show at once. So basically you can post a show once, and literally hundreds can download a blazing speeds. Retention for a show is about 2-3 days depending on your service. I know some of you know about the good ole newsgroups, but for those who don't, get on it!!!
1) go to http://www.forteinc.com/agent/download.php and download Agent of FreeAgent.
2)click this and install the tutorial for agent. its easy and will tell you how to set it up, login to newsgroups, and download files: http://www.smr-usenet.com/files/agent.chm
3) subscribe to the following groups and download mass amounts of kick-ass shns!! people under the cap, be aware, this IS highly addicting. here are some recomended groups:
alt.binaries.allmanbrothers
alt.binaries.gdead
alt.binaries.gdead.d (discussion and posting schedule)
alt.binaries.gdead.highspeed
alt.binaries.gdead.highspeed.reposts
alt.binaries.gdead.reposts
alt.binaries.music.shn
alt.binaries.music.shn.repost
alt.binaries.music.shn.dmb
alt.binaries.phish
currently, phil 5/31, 6/1 and 6/2 2002 are up in alt.binaries.gdead.highspeed.reposts
Oh, here is another good resource: http://gdeadfaq.ctree.org/

oh yeah, my guess would be that when you dragged and dropped all of the files you probably dragged the md5 as well. so after you converted all of the shns to wav the md5 ran again and gave you errors b/c there were no shn to check anymore.
try highlighting the shorten files, right clicking, and choosing "decode to wav".
-
OK, so forgive if i don't understand your dilema...but here goes:
so you run the checksum on the shn files and they check out fine. Then you converted them to wav format. Are you running the checksum on the wav files that you just converted to?? if you are, then of course the checksum would fail because the shn files no longer exist. Im assuming that under "file options" you have selected "delete input files after lossless processing", in which case, when you convert the shns to wav, you are left only with wav files. This would render the md5 totally useless as it only checks the integrity of the original shn files. if the shns checked out ok against the md5 then you should be fine.
am I way off base??? i had a lot to drink amidst the marathon hockey game and the taped tyson/lewis debacle.
-
just to add to the topic, I picked up Stanton Moore's "All Kooked Out" yesterday as well...guests include Skerik and Charlie Hunter.
Anyone ever listen to Lettuce??
-
I agree with a few of your selections:
Phish: Junta
Floyd: WIsh you Were Here
Greyboy Allstars: Town Called Earth
Ominous Seapods: Matinee Idol
And ill toss in The Allmans "eat a peach" (I stole if from my library by mistake when i moved from Illinois....sent them cash and later, some live discs:)
What was the first n last tune you saw from..
