  1. alright, so anyone else reading this message.. ..cast your vote for a free friendly pool, $$$$ pool, or everyone sends you a show pool...

I can set up an account at officepools.com for 20 bucks I think.

    lets get this thing going!

  2. We should have an NHL playoff pool !!! anyone else interested?

could make picks online via chat or something...use officepools.com ($20) to host the pool???

    anyone? anyone? anyone?

We could make it like 20 bucks a person or something...

  3. In my opinion, these are some years to hit:

69 - my favorite year. Check out any St Stephen > Eleven shows. There are some killer multi track recordings out there from this year. Check out "Two From the Vault" for an album choice depicting this.

Europe 72 shows - They also released an album "Europe 72" which is also worth checking out. also, the classic veneta oregan show from 8/27/72 is VERY nice.

75 - Well, they only played like 4 or 5 gigs. I believe there is a Dicks Picks from one of these. This is a transitional period from which they took a touring break and did "Blues For Allah" studio album.

77 - The show Booche mentioned. Also, 2/26/77; first Terrapin and first Estimated Prophet.

I havn't delved into the 80's or 90's that much yet. Lots of nice recordings from those years. I would recommend the 10/31/91 show however. Bill Graham had died shortly before this show was played and Ken Kesey had a CRAZY rant about that during the Darkstar. Good show, worth hearing just for the rant.

    Hope this helps a little!

  4. moe. opening for the PLQ??!! hmmm, ill say what Bouche refrained from, you're nuts! tongue.gif" border="0

Phil Lesh = Amazing energy and SO HAPPY to be up there. Its Phil!

Jimmy Herring = well, listen to some Aquarium Rescue Unit and/or some Justice League of America and you'll understand.

Warren Haynes = power player, singer, SONG WRITER.

Rob Barraco = AMAZING voice and wonderful on the keys

John Molo = Ill bet he's one of the most sought after drummer going these days...

Im not saying that folks shouldn't like moe. or that they aren't talented. I just don't think they are in the same league as the PLQ. If ya'll like moe. THAT much, you ARE in for one hell of a show!! moe. will come on and blow your mind, THEN Phil will squirm in through your ears and erase anything you have stored in your mind up until that point in time smile.gif" border="0

Just so you know, I am jealous of you Ontario folks and all the great shows you get to see....

  5. Thats the exact set I wanted to hear the other night in bozeman...got my Stephen but no Eleven or Darkstar. I agree, thats about as good as it gets..i figured we were constructing the dream setlist so I thought Terrapin would have kicked up the set to the highest level...nothing wrong with the way it was played though!

So, this was the first "big" show I had been to in a while. We left Calgary around noon on Monday and headed 9 hours south to Bozeman, MT. Before I say anything else, Bozeman rocks. Its a nice little U.S college town set in a valley surrounded by mountains...check it out if you get the chance. I think ill go back for some fishin' in the summer.

Anyhow, the ride down was pretty hairy as mother nature decided to make our road a skating rink...welcome to montana, canadians.

On Tuesday we milled around campus/town and had a GREAT lunch at a Cajun/nawlins style cafe.

On with the Phil!!! the capacity of the field house was just over 8,000. considering that the entire floor was filled and the seats were sparsly populated, AND the lot scene was WEAK, Id have to say there were a couple thousand, TOPS (i could be wrong but the place seemed empty). We managed to hold down a killer spot up around front row so our view was killer smile.gif" border="0 The setlist above speaks for itself. Its not the craziest set they have played in the last year but they were having so much fun!! Phil had the biggest shit eatin' grin, standing between two AMAZING guitar players like Warren and Jimmy I MY opinion, i seriously think this the setup phil has wanted since the early Dead years. Although the Dead made incredible music and am a HUGE fan, I think this is the structure phil would have always wanted...after the show, someone asked me "So, how would that have sounded if we replaced Jimmy with Bobby??" ...good question..end>. Did I mention that Barraco has an amazing voice and that he even brought some funk to the set. And Molo, well, he is hilarious. Dude is an animal on the kit and had some fun making the other guys catch him...

I would have to say the highlight of the night was the SMOKIN Stephen they tore into near the end of second set (that or the killer Unborken Chain set II opener).

All in all, the show was the most fun I had in recent memory. Being that we couldn't bring anything accross the border and that it was so cold in the lots, we were straight sober...and to put it into phil's words "..I think we left the ground a few times tonight.."

On a side note. The scene there was decent. Lots of great people came out for the show...all walks of life. However, some of those tour kids down there are a bunch of friggin idiots. self centered morons that cause more harm than good.

  7. I totally agree...Jimmy rocks!!! he is a team player too. Its funny watching him; he sits there and waits and waits and lets warren do his thing...then, when you least expect it, BAM! he lets loose.

9 hours, id do it again in a second. totally worth it.

by the way, you listen to much Aquarium Rescue Unit Bouche???

  8. For anyone lurking in the Calgary area:

"Come on down to the double mo on May 15th and listen to concert recordings from around the world as the folks from ctree.org spin some of their favorite shows, ranging from jamband style to folk, funk, reggae, jazz, bluegrass and beyond. Find out what a B+P is, why bands allow their concerts to be taped by fans, and how to get in on free, legal, live music - with an improvised bent - played by real live musicians, not mega recording studios manufacturing the latest music product."

For info on the cafe please visit http://www.doublemo.com

If you don't live in Calgary, tell any of your frineds who do.

  9. OK. First go Here: http://home.att.net/~mkw/mkwact.html

and download the official release (.96f). Don't worry about the runtime libraries. Install it on your computer.

once installed, open the program. Choose "options" and then select "file options". Browse to the directories where you want mkw to dump the .wav files when working. I usually just have a folder named "wav" inside of my download directory to which all the .wav files get dumped. Now, while still in the "file options" menu, check the following: create subdirectories, generate md5 after compressing, report md5 verification only on errors. You may also choose to select "delete input files after processing". basically, if you leave it checked, the original files you are working with will be deleted when turned into a different format. its up to you

OK, that should be all you need in setting up mkwact. Now, go to the directory you have downloaded shn files to. First, you'll want to check the integrity of the files. right click on the md5 and choose "verify". once the checksum has completed without errors you're good to go. Now, highlight all the .shn files, right click and choose decode to wav. mkwact will now process all of the files and turn them into .wav files. These can now be burned in your favorite burning software (i.e., ezcd, nero, cdrwin, etc). when burning make sure to select the DAO or "disc at once" option. I have to go to work now....hope this helped.

OH YEAH! to play shn files through winamp, go to etree.org and download the "shnamp" pluggin. follow their directions and you should have no problem...

  10. actually, bouche (and others), you CAN search back and forth in certain shows in the shn format. You'll probably find that shows that have been seeded since the middle of last year are "seekable". This is a newer feature of mkwact for those who compress to shn. you'll find it in the newest version. If you run XP you'll find out that trying to compress a wav to shn WITH seek tables WILL NOT go very smoothly. Just a little FYI for those who do seed shows and may not have been aware of this feature when generating shn files....
