  1. Back in the day my favorite kids book was Oh The Places You'll Go by Dr Seuss. My 2 year old nephew currently can't get enough of There's a Woset in My Closet als by the good Dr.

That post on Gordon Kormon was a pleasant reminder!! I loved everything by that guy. Who is Bugs Potter was a personal fav, as was I Want to Go Home. I think I'll reread those sometime soon!

  2. I'm just dragging my sorry ass out of bed right now (2pm). to all of you who are at work right now...sucks to be you! Last night was a damn fine time. Lots of great music, funny surprises, great people who were jazzed to be partying down for Nero made for an awwwwesum Sunday night. Dave-o, thanx for the concern but I made it back to town in time for the show...too bad you missed it! That little shakedown tease was some funny shit!!! I'm pretty sure Booch messed his shorts when Nero started playing it and I'm sure he messed them again when they pulled the psyche! Nice April fool's day joke!! After-party at Todd's was a fun-filled hazey affair! Thanx to all who made last night such a fun time!

  3. yeah aberg, entranced might be how you could describe me that night...another way might be spun but who wants to argue about semantics. I was definately feelin no pain and enjoying the sweet sounds of Herbie on this night. I hope for everyone in Ottawa's sake that when he comes to Jazzfest, Herbie will be sporting the same line up incl. dj et.al. I have a feeling the next time I see him it will be a very different show, much more along the lines of a standard jazz show, no problems with that...still it was nice to see Herbie throw down a modern sounding electronic influenced set. Wicked night had by all. thanx for the evidence low roller.

  4. Wow kids! I haven't posted since yesterday afternoon. I can't beleive everyone has went crazy with this! We are definately gonna blow the fuckin' bar out of the water! I'm super pumped. Nero boyz must be getting such a kick out of this! Good times will definately be had by all and the owner of the bar is gonna have his jaw dropped! Let's get crazy on Sunday!!!

  5. I have to admit that I stole the idea from a party at Double B's bro's place in Toronto last May. It was quite a fungus fest when all of a sudden we heard a group of people counting down around midnight...We had no idea what was up. 5...4...3....2...1..."HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!" The entire party lost their collective shit for about half an hour. Funny stuff and i've been looking for an excuse to pull off a similar prank ever since.

I kinda like the monopoly money idea. If we pull it off large the bar will definately remember us in the future.

p.s. sorry about the double post...wierd computer shit.

  6. I have to agree that I haven't had any high quality sushi in Ottawa but then again I haven't blown a lot of time or money searching for the best in town. Most of the sushi I have had has been pretty generic so as far as that goes I've been sticking to the Sushi Zone in the Byward Market. It's not bad, fresh, fairly cheap, but not very original and no atmosphere to speak of. Still it helps feed the sushi jones I sometimes get.

  7. Nice report man. I was so tempted to pull the trigger and do Moe. Friday and Saturday and stop to see Herbie on Sunday! Still my weekend wasn't so bad. Glad to hear Moe is still throwing down hard as ever...Hearing you report is making me itch to see'em. Syracuse on April 18th...anyone down with a road trip?

  8. What a great night! I have been looking forward to seeing this show for a while and it did not disapoint. I originally planned to drive a Honda Civic to the show but enough people hopped on the band wagon that I ended up filling my old man's mini-van!

Herbie is the shit and kept my groove on all night. Funky, interesting, amazing! Definately the best show i've seen in a damn long time! Thanks to all who helped make the party so damn good! Big thanks to Blane for the hospitality, Dave for the love, and big ups to Jyll for driving my dad's van and all of our sorry asses home safe and sound.

The New Deal was great as always and the drummer was kickin out some different beats this time around...very interesting. The crowd on the dance floor was loving it and I saw lots of the older jazzers boppin their heads and getting lost in the groove. Still the night belonged to Herbie. Wow. Loved the whole band. They just put on a monster show! Sweetness flowed from the stage all night long!! I wasn't sure what to expect with a dj and all but it was ill to say the least! Good times for this kid.

  9. The sound wasn't great in the room, but it was smoke friendly, nice staff and kids were getting down. And yeah, they got some dirty lyrics. Dude rhymed "vagina" for about 3 minutes and although I missed the encore he supposedly strapped a dildo to his face and got all crazy on stage! Funny shit.

  10. not a problem dude! I just rolled back into town, but I plan on leaving this afternoon around 3 or 4. do you have Blane's number cuz I wouldn't mind having a pint or 2 with those kids before hand.

    I'll call you asap

  11. I saw the band Slow Nerve Action last Wednesday at the Underground in Ottawa. They were described to me as porno-funk and they certainly were. Pretty good band from Whistler (I think). Dirty beats, waka waka guitar and a front man who could rap and sing...his style was actually pretty cool.

This band is on the road touring so if anyone sees this band playing in your hometown go check'em out. Well worth $5 cover for a fun night of funk
