    Attack in Black

My buddy Walter Schreifels http://www.myspace.com/walterschreifelsmusic (also on Dine Alone Records) did a tour w/ them last year so I went out to see them & they do put on a great show. I'd recommend. They're also opening a bunch of upcoming Constantines Canadian shows.
  12. I'm a fan of Bidini's writing and thought I'd share for those who have not yet heard about this. ~~~~ FROM THISMAGAZINE.CA Dave Bidini’s column appears in this space every other Wednesday. Dave is the author of eight books, including Tropic of Hockey, On A Cold Road, and Around the World in 57.5 Gigs. He’s also made two films, The Hockey Nomad and The Hockey Nomad Goes to Russia, and recently adapted his erotic story collection, The Five Hole, into a critically-acclaimed stage play with the One Yellow Rabbit Theatre Company. His former band, Rheostatics, are considered among the country’s finest, having won numerous awards and citations. CLICK HERE to read. btw column topics to date are: China’s concrete welcome mat (April 9, 2008) In the name of Olympic hospitality, Beijing is sacrificing its soul The spirit of public radio (March 26, 2008) Demanding more from the peoples’ programmers The slippery slope (March 12, 2008) In music as in baseball, we all play a role in scandal Much, much less (Feb. 27, 2008) Lamenting what could have been Canada’s music station No landmark for young kids (Jan. 30, 2008) When cookie-cutter culture moves downtown Mulroney, 7-Eleven and the beginning of the end (Jan. 15, 2008) How big-box hell got a hold of us

  17. The Cons are playing MTV Live today:
  18. btw - I highly recommend people get the Constantines album from a record store as opposed to off iTunes if you can b/c of the cool artwork. Available starting April 15th (this Tuesday) at stores in Canada. Dallas (the bass player) did the art-work for the album and it's pretty fuckin sweet. The inlay replicates the Cons' practice space and the exterior unfolds to replicate an airplane. Dallas also has some of his model airplanes on display right now at an exhibit @ the Whippersnapper gallery in Toronto (across the street from Orbit Room). It's part of a cool exhibit happening right now (ends Monday I believe) that is a bunch of musicians' artwork (including folks like Buck 65, Andre Ethier, Justin Peroff of BSS, Chad VanGaaleen, etc. etc.) more info here: http://www.whippersnapper.ca/site/index.php
  19. Oh and two other notable shows next week: Purple Hill @ Wavelength on Sunday (Sneaky Dee;s) and Tapes n' Tapes @ Opera House on Monday!
  20. Hot Chip are also doing a stripped down performance during the day next Wednesday @ MTV Canada - open to public - if folks want to attend that didn't get tics to that night's show.
