  1. Didn't we have a thread about this last time around? In Canada, technically it is illegal to spoil a ballot. Online voting has ip's attached to the votes so it isn't 'secret'... combine the two, and you go to jail for not liking the candidates you have been forced to choose from.

The solution is somewhere between awareness/interest/consideration of politics during the slow times and more proportional representation because right now the ridings are drawn and redrawn to support whoever drew'em.

    CTV on spoiling your ballot...

  2. Blehhhhhh(ups anti-depressant dose)...manatory voting please.

Australia has mandatory voting and they spoil roughly three times as many ballots as Canadians. Mandatory is not a solution, proportion is. imo.

  3. No photo' date=' no body, 'DNA results'...

So many revenge-hungry retards got closure today.[/quote']

    What would you have preferred?

    He got what he deserved.

I think he might be saying that he would prefer if people didn't take joy in murder, even when they don't like the guy who got killed.

    Sounds reasonable enough to me.

  4. No offense D_Rawk, but the NDP with 10? seats, and the Libs around 30-35, means that the Cons don't actually have to ask anyone anything anymore... go ahead and be the opposition, but you haven't actually won anything other than first in line to lose. The opposition in a majority is just the loudest most legitimate group of complainers. This is a loss, not a win, for left-leaning voters.

and yes, Jack seemed tired during the early part of the election, and imo, it was why he got so much support. He was physically ill, no? I didn't say tired meant lame or lazy, just that the NDP was at the end of it's patience, and that this lack of patience would translate into votes. maybe you don't like the word I chose, but I was right.

  5. I'm both a huge ball fan, and a major hater on the NBA style. That said, these playoffs have been awesome, and I'm really sad that there may not be much of a next (two?) year(s).

  6. Let's make it an election issue and then we can force people to compare the Liberal/NDP/Green ideas about decrim or whatever, against the vision of Harper's Conservatives where everyone caught with a flake of dope near them gets a full year in jail for their troubles... to make Canada safer?!?!?!?!?

  7. Liberal arrogance? Iggy seemed super frustrated to me. That smile was rueful, not happy. It was Harper who reassuringly smiled directly into the camera while claiming that the election had been called because of the budget... that's arrogant. It works, but it's arrogance.

I find it fascinating that the more Harper goes arrogant styles, and simply can't be made to talk in any tone but a condescending one, the more it solidifies his standing with his base, who act in almost the exact same way most of the time ("Well that's just the bottom line and if you aren't with us you're with the terrorists/seperatists"). And on the other side, those who vote NDP seem just as tired as Jack does this go around... and almost as hopeless as Jack. He seems to have come off so well because he was so much less 'amped' during this debate. But on the other hand, the more Iggy acts like his base, the more excited he gets about Harper's record, and the more frustrated his voice sounds, the less likely the people who feel the same ways when confronted by neo-Con rhetoric are to support him. Why?

  8. You know, you may be able to find a feed somewhere, but it's my guess you won't be able to watch it anyways, cause they are so infuriating I'm turning it off right now.

If you like smug, vote Harper.

If you like smart, but too eager, go Iggy.

If you like tired, but measured, go Layton.

If you don't like these stupid guys, I wish you well, unless you live in Quebec, then I'm jealous of your options and I wish you well.

  9. I have never seen a basket actually have a lid on it. I mean I've heard the colloquialism but I've never seen it like that before. It gives me hope that when these guys play amazing it's just as much of a fluke, and then I remember that that hasn't happened for seventy years, so I'm likely not going to be dunking it at the monday night pick-up game. oh well, there's always next year.
