For those of you up KW way, I also dropped off a bunch of free tix at Shakedown Street. You can drop by their location on King Street or give them a shout to see if there are any left.
There's no opening band on Saturday, so we're looking to hit the stage by 10:30pm for a couple of extra long sets. Hope to see you there!

Consider it done, my friend.
-
If you want, slide me your address and I can drop them off for you.

Alllllllright New Rider! Let's work out the details so that I can get the passes to you!

...just bringing this one back towards the top of the list as a friendly reminder...
If you're going to be in the Niagara region tonight, feel free to drop by and stay awhile!
You'll find The Office on James Street in downtown St. Catharines.
-
It's gonna be ok; I talked to the cook, and he's promised not to turn on the toaster while we're ripping it up.
-
Saturday night, January 27th at The Office on James Street, downtown St. Catharines... 3 hours of Grateful Dead music for you to shake your bones to!
See you there!
Chuck

I'll guarantee you at least two of those!

Sweet... any requests?
-
"...amazing..."
"...stunning..."
"...free!"
We're going to be doing it up right with the full light and projection show... Friday, December 29th at Tap's Tavern, 225 Parkdale Avenue North, Hamilton.
This'll be the perfect excuse to dance the night away to the sounds of the Grateful Dead with our "Post-Christmas, pre-New Year's, final-work day-of-the year celebration"!
We'll be getting the first set underway nice and early... first notes at 9:30pm... and with 4 hours of music to play, we'd be glad to take a request or two. What would you like to hear?

Hey y'all... there appears to some confusion as to whether or not we're playing in Oshawa this weekend. Unfortunately, we are not. While it's true that were were contacted some time ago about the possibility of playing this show, we had never confirmed, and our schedules won't allow us to play this one on such short notice. Sorry for any confusion... hopefully we can book something at the Velvet Elvis in the near future.
peace,
Chuck and the rest of RG

Sweet... the more the merrier!
It sounds like they'd fit in fine with last night's crew. A big thanks to everyone that made it out to Tap's; you were stong in number and in voice, and I hope that we gave you what you were lookin' for:
Set One:
U.S. Blues; Mexicali Blues; Bertha; Hell In A Bucket; Mississippi Half-Step; Tennessee Jed; Jack-A-Roe; Hey Pockey Way; Playing In The Band > Uncle John's Band > Morning Dew >
Uncle John's Band > Playing In The Band
Set Two:
Jam > The Music Never Stopped; Alabama Getaway > Passenger; Let It Grow > Jam > Bird Song > The Other One > Bird Song; Jack Straw > Franklin's Tower
Encore:
Cumberland Blues; Iko Iko; Truckin'; Casey Jones
At least I think that's how the encore went; thinks were getting pretty foggy by the end of the evening! Hopefully the recording turned out ok!
FYI, the owner and staff of Tap's Tavern were absolutely thrilled with the whole evening; we're already working on another show there in the near future. Stay tuned to rosegarland.ca for the details.
Cheers,
RG

Tap's Tavern
235 Parkdale Avenue N.
Hamilton

Sure thing... What would be the optimum venue for us to play up that way? Do you have any suggestions?

The year of our Lord, 2006.
-
September 29th, I mean.
-
Right... that would be THIS Friday night.
-
This time around we've been invited back to Tap's Tavern, located at 255 Parkdale St. North. Our first show at Tap's in June saw us play to lots of familiar faces and a bunch of new ones, too!
Expect another long show; we'll start our 1st set od Good Ol' Grateful Dead at 9:30pm.
Hope to see you there!

And don't forget that hang around after our set for a special performance by the Waterdown Village Squares Squaredancing Club! This is shaping up to be an incredibly weird afternoon...
-
Just bringing this topic back to the fore in case anyone's looking for something to do Saturday afternoon in the Hamilton area!
Rose Garland will play a ninety-minute set @ the Dundas Cactus Festival, getting underway at 12:30pm. The stage is located on King Street in Dundas, Ontario, between John & Church Streets. Admission is absolutely free.
The Dundas Cactus Festival is one of the most succesful and longest-running street festivals in Southern Ontario. It's family friendly, with a wide variety of entertainment and vendors on display all weekend.
Hope to see you there!

Trey Anastasio once said something that I take to be 100% correct: that if you're going to take true inspiration from the Dead, you'll end up sounding nothing like them.
Then I guess that we've learned our lesson well.
Though open to different interpretation, great songwriting never goes out of style.
Let there be songs... to fill the air...
I've got your Rose Garland tickets... who's buyin'?
