phunkyb
Hey folks, Don't mean to swamp you with great shows, but here's one at The 360 Club, 326 Queen Street West @ Spadina, Toronto, Ontario, on Thursday, November 21st, 2002 - ****************************************************** Ripe Sounds presents - OTEIL & THE PEACEMAKERS with guests Relax with Trudy Thursday, November 21, 2002 10:00PM - Tickets $15 ****************************************************** Oteil Burbridge is a "musician's musician," a bass guitar idol, and a master of jamband-style funk, rock, blues, jazz, and everything in between. He has worked with the likes of Col. Bruce Hampton, Jimmy Herring, Count Mbutu, Soulive, Kofi Burbridge, Victor Wooten, Matt Mundy, Page McConnell, Chuck Leavell, Ricky Keller, Jeff Sipe, Russell Batiste, Steve Bailey, John Scofield, Jim Roberts, Bass Extremes, Matt Wilcox, Mike Gallaher, J.D. Blair, and has been a member of Vida Blue, Frogwings, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Gov't Mule, and, of course, The Allman Brothers Band. Burbridge first emerged as a founding member of Aquarium Rescue Unit, a group that recorded their first album in the early '90s and hit the road on the H.O.R.D.E. tour with other like-minded bands. In 1997, he replaced bassist Allen Woody in The Allman Brothers Band, and has remained in that position to date. Burbridge has also contributed to recordings by Gregg Allman, Victor Wooten, Gov't Mule, Trey Anastasio and Jon Fishman of Phish, and T. Lavitz of the Dixie Dregs. Heralded as one of the finest bass players around, Oteil was featured in Bass Player magazine in August 1993 and again as the cover story in August 1997. Burbridge played on the 1999 Stranger's Hand album with Howard Levy, Jerry Goodman, and Steve Smith, and in 2000 he released his first solo CD, an instrumental effort entitled Love of a Lifetime. He toured with his own band, Oteil & The Peacemakers, in the fall of 2000. Oteil & The Peacemaker's all-star line-up features Burbridge's original crew of musicians that includes Paul Henson (vocals), Mark Kimbrell (guitar), Chris Fryar (drums), Jason Crosby (keyboard/violin), Kebbi Williams (sax) and Burbridge on bass. Each individual member can boast an impressive resume of colleagues from virtuoso Jason Crosby working extensively with Susan Tedeschi, G. Love, Derek Trucks, Soulive, and Leo Nocentelli of The Meters, to power jam mainstay Kebbi Williams whose collaborations include P'taah, Cee-Lo, Russell Gunn, Backbone, and rap supergroup the Dungeon Family. The six-piece lineup is heavily funk-influenced but incorporate jazz melodies through the keyboards and sax. The Peacemakers have incorporated more lyrics into their music during their most recent recording sessions. Oteil & The Peacemakers will be performing two sets at The 360 Club in Toronto on Thursday, November 21st. Toronto natives Relax with Trudy will hit the stage at 10PM to get the night started, followed by Oteil & The Peacemakers. Doors @ 9:30PM, Tickets $15 @ Door. ike
Of course this is just my own humble opinion, but this is going to be the show of the year. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW! OTEIL IS THE MAN! If anyone is planning on taping this show please get in touch with me, I just have to get a copy.
bouche
The cuttin-n-pastin job only looks wrong if you've got your screen resolution lower that 1024 x 768. Otherwise, it should be just fine. Show-whore, you should bump your screen res up a bit...you can fit more porn on the screen
mark tonin
I agree with iKE420 ... this is going to be a fabulous show!!! I wish I could go, but I'm supervising a Battle of the Bands being held at my high school ... I'll be having a much different musical experience than will be happening in Toronto at the 360. But if the Battle ends early, I'll definitely be heading to Toronto for the Oteil & The Peacemekers show. Peace, Mark
NewRider
I can't wait for this show, I'm glad it's at the 360 and not the CoZo. It's good to finally see someone other than Caution Jam using that beautiful room.

mark tonin
I wish I could be there ... I know that we've had all kinds of great shows to go to lately, but this show seems like it is a "must attend" for anyone who can possibly make it. I really hope that people make it out for this event. Peace, Mark

bouche
I just noticed that when I shrunk my browser window down, it looked funky. I thought I'd throw out a suggestion. Screens should all be the same size and resolution, it would make life a lot easier.

ike
The show was killer! Oteil really is the man. And I got to shake hands with one of the best if not the best bass player alive today. I was really surprised that the turnout was not better than it was, but the people that were there were really enjoying it. I think Graham was the one who said "this is the best show I've ever seen at the 360." I have to agree
\/\/illy
I agree. The show was fantasic. I was a little bit scared when I first got there because the band wasn't doing anything for me. Thankfully it was just the opening band. Oteil was amazing. His guitarist is unbelievable. They were tight and they jammed it out beautifully. I recall seing Oteil glance at the guitarist several times and just shake his head at the shit he was playing. Nice to see that kind of respect within the band. The hand-shake and signed CD were just the icing on the cake. GREAT NIGHT!
