bradm
Joe Strummer, founder of the Clash, has died of a heart attack at his home. The Ottawa Sun has the story. Aloha, Brad
Rob Not Bob
This is a damned shame. RIP, Joe, you were one of the good ones. RTHV
Mr. Musicface
Wow, I was watching MMM this morning and they didn't mention it at all. Very sad indeed, RIP Joe! Peace, - Mr. M.
zimmerman pt3
damn that blows! Joe with the Clash ruled on many levels. Their dubb-reggae+punk mix can't be beat! They were one of three bands I've been waiting forever to see reunite (the other two are the Smiths and the Misfits w/Danzig). again that sucks... Esau
I heard about it over a few beers at lunch today.Sad. The Clash were my first "Arena" show in 1984 at Maple Leaf Gardens.Messenjah I beleive opened for them. There was talk of a Clash reunion, too bad it would have been great. Peace. Jaimoe
Joe was one of the few intellectuals in rock. He was one of the best songwriters in rock. His Telecaster sound and politically charged lyrics launched a million bands. He was also one of the great ones. He was a family man, a good husband and a humanitarian. Fuckin' tragic. My punker roommate Stu's hero is Joe Strummer. He said to me today: " Dave, he's my Jerry Garcia ". Sad news indeed. I have a Joe Strummer autographed Clash cd - the first album. I'm honoured to have it. RIP Joe.
mulvee
My glass will definately be raised in his honour tonight. The Clash IMO were the best band ever....Sad day indeed!
Jaimoe
Even though I like a lot of different bands more than I like The Clash, they are, IMO, one of the most important bands in rock and roll history... and they kicked serious ass. Buy the live album now ( I'm sure you already own it Mulvee )!!
mulvee
Actually i don't own much, i had practically everything on tape about 10 yrs ago, and gave it all away. Had no deck back then, and was switching to discs..... Guess its finally time to upgrade, starting with the Live One(been eyeing that up for awhile)
Jaimoe
Pete Townshend wrote this today on his website: Christmas Clash Just heard from Matt Kent that my old pal Joe Strummer has died of a heart-attack at just 50 years old. That heart of his always worked too hard........ he's been making great music lately, I will really miss him.
