Following months of pursuit by private investigator Carl Hanratty, Dark Star Orchestra taper Peter “Flash” Rioux has finally been located and is undergoing rehabilitation. Rioux was found in an undisclosed Hampton Inn locked into the fetal position, clutching his copy of the DSO 2/9/04 performance with Donna Jean (Godchaux) MacKay, muttering, "It’s an original show, it’s an original show.” Nonetheless in what is being described as “a fierce bid for his sanity,” Rioux has been taken to a minimal security boot camp in Ithaca, NY for a prescribed diet of Dicks Picks and Betty Boards.

Members of Phil & Friends and RatDog Form Bands

Musicians from two notable national acts have decided to focus their energies on a side project. Phil and Friends’ Phil Lesh, Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring will join RatDog’s Bob Weir and Jeff Chimenti to tour this summer in a group they are tentatively naming The Dead. The five musicians, who will focus much of their shows on material written by other songwriters, indicate they may add an additional drummer or two into the mix.

In a related note, some of the remaining band members have confirmed they too will get together to tour under the name The OTHER Other Ones. Drummers Jay Lane and John Molo, bassist Robin Sylvester, keyboardist Rob Barraco, and guitarist Mark Karan will play a twenty five date US tour spanning both coasts. "The Dead might be able to give fans a Dark Star or a Scarlet Begonias, " said Molo, " but only we will regularly give them the K.C. Moans and No More Do I's that they really crave."

Authorities have discovered through intensive interrogation that 'Earthfreak', a Canadian, has also had psychotic DSO taping episodes. Authorities are seeking the young woman for questioning and a mental assessment.
