bradm Posted June 17, 2004 Report Share Posted June 17, 2004 The guy can play, and with the right mindset, can be loads of fun to watch/listen-to/dance-to. It's easy to dismiss his stuff as "whitewashed" flamenco-pop, but he puts on an enjoyable show. The closest comparison would probably be to Ottmar Leibert (sp?), but I think I prefer Jesse Cook because he (and his band, which is solid) looks like he's having more fun. If he came to Ottawa, I might go and see him, but $42 is a little steep to my thinking. He's a $20 act, to my ears, but yours may vary. I've only seen him on TV, but looks like a very enjoyable show, but he just seems to have gotten to the stage of popularity where he is playing a lot of $42 venues, and it just isn't worth it to me ... also among the reasons I don't go to see Sarah McLachlan.
