Whenever I had a horrible cold, Dad would come in when I was hacking up my lungs and pour it down my throat. So I guess my response would be...straight up. My Grandma's boyfriend got me into it - you need the snifter - and I'm sure there's a purist way of doing it, but just pop it in the microwave for a few seconds till hot, and enjoy!!
