Douglas
So I've been "randomly selected" (b.s. - someone volunteered me) to carve a pumpkin at work. There will be 2 winners: Best Decorated and Most Creative Us of a Pumpkin. Something computer-related would be fun (since that's what I do), but I only have 24 hours to pull this together. Any ideas? h
This is my favourite site this year http://www.zombiepumpkins.com They want a donation - which is understandable, but generally i just look at the ideas and go from there. I dont worry about the stencils. The Nightmare Before Xmas ones look simple but great.

h
oh also - not computer related but i saw a really nice round pumpkin the other day that just had stars carved in all over it. I think i'm gonna do one like that one this year - it was really nice lit up.
Velvet
You could carve binary code all over the thing.

Douglas
You could carve binary code all over the thing. good idear...but that would take too long I think.... unless...I could figure out what the binary code for "Happy Halloween" is...that would be cool! Bradm...can ya hook me up???
Velvet
Nobody would know. Just do the binary code and tell everyone it says Happy Hallowe'en.
Douglas
or the windows logo? hmmm...that would take much less time...and equally as scary!
Velvet
The Windows idea is way better. I'm stupid and useless.
Douglas
actually....I'm work for HECS (Healthy Environment and Consumer Safety), so it would be neat to use hex instead of binary. But no one would get it...at all. And I'm the stupid one....Happy Halloween wouldn't even fit on my pumpkin in code! I suppose I could use "BOO" Which also is funny since that's my nickname around here. HECS/hex and BOO/Boo hmmm...at least I'd be giggling at it! Velvet
i thought your nickname around here was Linda.

Velvet
Oh right, it's only me that calls you Linda. Best keep it that, seeing as how it bugs you so much and all. Is this what they mean by hijacking a thread?
h
dougie just suggested to me that you can use coloured gels or maybe use a marker on wax paper to make coloured inserts for the design. - red eyes etc....i wonder how hard it would be to carve an image of velvet onto a pumpkin... FairySari
I think you should turn your pumpkin into a bong. Well, assuming you have cool coworkers and a cool boss. But even if they're not, it's still probably going to be the most creative use of a pumpkin there. I did this last Halloween for the pumpkin carving contest at the Hot Box cafe, and it worked. Even won a little prize. I highly recommend it.
