bradm
If you check the calendar for Babylon in Ottawa, and scroll down to Friday, March 11, Shonen Knife is scheduled! My brother, who lived in Japan from 1988-2003, turned me on to this band. Essentially, it's three former office girls from Tokyo who decided to write their own songs because Ramones tunes were too hard to play. They were scheduled to play Barrymore's a couple of years ago, but cancelled at the last minute, and kind of fell under the radar, but it looks like they'll be back with a tour of North America in February and March. Yeee-hawww!!! Oh, and some band called "Grant Thrift Dust" or somesuch is supposed to be playing Babylon a week later. Aloha, Brad
PalacePrincess
kurt cobain was a big shonen knife fan, in fact i'm pretty sure they opened for nirvana numerous times back in the day. a screamy japanese all-girl punk band. i've heard & read bits & pieces about them over the years... that's neat they're still around. if i was anywhere near ottawa i'd check this out for sure! Del
Aren't the 5 6 7 8's also now featured in a car commercial? I can't remember which one, but it sure does sound familiar...
balogna pogna
My sister had a Shonen Knife cassette years ago and the lyrics were funny like when you realize they don't speak English and have so idea what they are singing. Songs about Fuzzy Super Pony Keychain's and stuff.
AdamH
Shonen Knife...those were the days. I despised them almost as much as Cibo Matto.
