FWIW, I once witnessed a guy get out of a situation in which he was clearly out-gunned by falling to the ground hollering in pain as though he had been hit, before he had been hit. The assailants seemed totally confused about what was going on, probably thought he was simply nuts, and left him alone after that.

Such a thing never occured to me before that, and my own approach to situations where I was outnumbered and overpowered (said approach consisting, mostly, of an arrogant smirk that I can't get rid of and an aptitude for saying all the wrong things) has only resulted in my being left unconscious and bleeding.
