shainhouse
I've been working lately with District Six Music, a label based in Toronto that deals specifically with political, conscious hip-hop and just recently they introduced me to Tumi and the Volume. They are from Johannessburg, South Africa and are fantastic. More socially political than war and violence-based political, but really, really good stuff. They are playing in Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton this week. 5th in T.O., 6th in Ottawa and 7th in Hamilton.www.districtsixmusic.comanybody else know of some good conscious hip-hop out there? I've been listening to K'Naan and Common alot, but are their lesser known artists about that I can get a hold of?

DevO
I don't know how conscious they are, but People Under The Stairs are awesome.. Shain you'll like them. Check out the album by DJ Fase & Abdominal (from Toronto) too. They rap about fast food.

I recommend the whole Labor Days album by Aesop Rock or Accepted Eclectic by Aceyalone.

a wise coworker once said this on the subject of concious hip hop:"man, if i wanted to learn about poltics and big words, i'd go to school... when i listen to hip hop, i wanna to hear about niggas bustin caps, choppin crack and banging hoes"
